Want to be a published author as an undergraduate? Submit your essays to Utraque Unum, Georgetown University’s only Undergraduate research journal of the humanities! We accept essays in the humanities and social sciences.
Criteria: we evaluate papers on the basis of (1) clarity and brilliance of prose, (2) persuasiveness and/or coherence of argument (and the existence of a cogent thesis), (3) originality of topic, and (4) general interest to our readership. If selected, your piece would go through an editing process of about a month to refine it for publication. Papers should be around 2,000 to 4,500 words in length.
Editions are normally distributed to the ICC and Lauinger Library on campus, as well as the Georgetown Public Library and D.C. Public Express Library. Full digital copies of past editions can be found here and individual articles can be found on our website. Please direct general inquiries to utraqueunum@georgetown.edu.
