Title: Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships

The National Resource Center on the Middle East and North Africa (NRC-MENA) is currently accepting applications for summer Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships. FLAS Fellowships are available in modern Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, and Turkish. Funding is provided by a Title VI grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

Undergraduate and graduate students who incorporate language and area studies in their degree or certificate programs are encouraged to apply. The fellowships cover up to $5,000.00 in tuition/fees and provide a $2,500.00 subsistence allowance for intensive language study in the U.S. or abroad (contingent on travel approval from both Georgetown and the Dept. of Education) in Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, or Turkish.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, demonstrate a long-term interest in the MENA Region, and have intermediate-level proficiency in the FLAS language.
