Victoria Espinel (SFS’89) becomes the first ever chief US trade negotiator for intellectual property and innovation at the United States Trade Representative. In this role, she created the template for how American patents are protected overseas. In 2009 President Obama nominated Espinel to be the United States Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator.
