Walsh conducted an informal interview with Major General Karl Haushofer, who had acted as a major academic influence on Hitler and Nazi ideology, to ascertain whether he ought to stand trial for war crimes. Walsh concluded that the actions of Haushofer did not meet the standard for prosecution.
