Charles Baldwin (SFS’26) becomes President Kennedy’s ambassador to Malaysia. Beginning his diplomatic career immediately after graduation, Baldwin had previously served as an economic counselor in London, Consul General in Singapore, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Far Eastern Economic Affairs. Following the end of his posting in Malaysia, Baldwin acted as diplomat in residence at the University of Virginia until 1970.
