Alumni

The Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) alumni are an essential part of our global community.

As a graduate, you’ll join over 4,000 MSFS alumni who work in business, government and nonprofit organizations worldwide and are committed to working with and for one another.

Alumni regularly devote time, effort and financial support to every aspect of our program by:

  • Helping recruit and select new students
  • Coming to campus to share their knowledge and experience with current students
  • Serving as examiners for oral exams
  • Teaching workshops and courses throughout the year.

Our network continues to shape international professions long after graduation. Alumni stay connected to each other, current cohorts and incoming classes through events on and off campus, in the U.S. and around the world.

If you have questions about the alumni experience, please email msfsdeputydirector@georgetown.edu.

Alumni highlight

The MSFS Centennial Awards recognized a small group of distinguished alumni thought to have best embodied the program’s guiding principles of leadership, creativity, ethics, service and inclusion.

Diplomat Steven Gillen (MSFS’96) helped negotiate the release of Paul Whelan, Brittney Griner and captive Americans abroad. He now works to support Somalia’s fight against terror while promoting democratization and humanitarian issues.
