Jamie Welling
Global Experience Program Director
Jamie Welling is the Global Experience Program Director for the School of Foreign Service (SFS) undergraduate students. Her view is that "global" experiences include both domestic and abroad options. In this role, she works to connect SFS with other GU departments and external partners to create and facilitate less-traditional global experiences for students that include classes, Centennial Labs, immersion trips, summer internships and funding, and research opportunities. In time, Jamie hopes to build a lasting program that facilitates opportunities so that every undergraduate SFS student has the option to participate in a global experience before they graduate.
Prior to joining Georgetown, Jamie was the Associate Director of WCL Abroad at the American University Washington College of Law (WCL). Before her work in higher education, she worked in the world of NGOs both in the US and abroad dealing with legal and economic policy, community economic development programs, and grants. Jamie holds a Master of Public Administration (MPA) with a specialization in International Management from the American University, a B.A. in International Economics & Cultural Affairs / Spanish from Valparaiso University, and an Advanced CTESOL certificate from Transworld Schools. She has lived, worked, and/or studied in Turkey, Palestine, Israel, and Mexico.
