Born in the United States and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia, Emma is a passionate advocate for climate action and biodiversity protection, shaped by her volunteer experiences in the islands of Java and Sulawesi. Emma previously worked as a marine policy intern at the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), a communications intern at the Animal Welfare Institute, and a conservation intern at the Jane Goodall Institute and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). She currently works as an environmental defender research intern with the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs (OES). She is also a research assistant with the Georgetown Linguistics Department, contributing to a project about using metaphors in describing climate action. Outside the classroom, Emma serves as Deputy Head Delegate of the Georgetown University Model United Nations team and former Under-Secretary-General of the National Collegiate Security Conference. Next summer, Emma hopes to explore environmental protection through public service.
