Karen Samy

Karen Samy is a junior in the SFS studying International Politics with minors in International Development and Religion, Ethics & World Affairs. She immigrated from Egypt in 2004 and settled in Fairfax, VA. Karen's interests lie at the intersection of democracy, development, women's rights, and religious freedom, especially in the Middle East and Africa. At Georgetown, Karen works to spread cultural understanding and appreciation through Georgetown's Arab Society, is involved in Orthodox Ministry, serves as a Resident Assistant for fellow students and takes on leadership positions in Mask & Bauble Dramatic Society. She currently has a conditional offer for a Pathways internship at the Department of State, and hopes to contribute to the fight for religious freedom, gender equity and democracy through a career in foreign policy or diplomacy.
