Lyssa Freese is a senior in the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. She is majoring in Science, Technology and International Affairs, specifically focusing on Global Health, and is also a pre-med student. Lyssa spent the fall semester of her junior year in Beijing, China, which furthered her interests in China from initially only focusing on the language to a much deeper interest in their political and social structure as well as environmental health in the country. This interest was the inspiration for her thesis that she conducted research for this past summer and that she will be writing over the upcoming year. Lyssa spent time in Beijing and Shanghai, China, conducting interviews with various non-governmental organizations on pollution policy in China.
