For over three decades, MAES has been training the next generation of transatlantic leaders. With a world class faculty and small student to teacher ratio, MAES offers an unparallelled boutique experience in international affairs. In addition to gaining a deep understanding of Europe and transatlantic affairs, you will be able to take advantage of all of the outstanding opportunities at Georgetown, SFS and Washington, DC.

Curriculum

Our interdisciplinary curriculum pairs a broad understanding of Europe and the transatlantic relationship with a deep dive into topics of your choice. The program includes core courses which frame European studies from a variety of disciplines – history, culture, economics, politics – and elective courses which you’ll use to create an individualized concentration to deepen your knowledge in your specific topic of interest.

In the Master of Arts in European Studies program, you’ll gain the skills and expertise that employers value. Through signature internships at major global corporations and international organizations, our graduates develop the relationships and experiences necessary to pursue a productive career in international affairs. Our graduates have gone on to work in a range of high-profile positions at prestigious employers including the BMW corporation, the U.S. State Department and SAP.
