Liam Madden (GHD’26) hones his skills in humanitarian aid and development

After working with the United Nations Children’s Fund in Sudan, where he witnessed the outbreak of civil war and a growing humanitarian crisis, Liam Madden (GHD’26) came to the Hilltop seeking deeper expertise in global development. He’s graduating  with not only a better understanding of humanitarian response in practice, but also the technical skills needed to make a greater impact. As he prepares to leave the Hilltop, Madden reflects on his experience in the Global Human Development program—defined by purpose, a renewed commitment to addressing global challenges and mentorship along the way.

“I am very keen to get back to doing work in country offices to do more hands-on work, working with local actors and hopefully governments to try and make any contributions however I can with the skills I’ve learned at GHD,” he says.
