Six months before he began his undergraduate studies, Kyryl Myronenko (SFS’26) expected to be a college student in his home city of Cherkasy, Ukraine. Now, as graduation nears, he looks back on the unexpected path that led him to Georgetown following the outbreak of war in Ukraine. From co-founding the Ukrainian Society to immersing himself in global affairs through his studies, Myronenko has remained dedicated to supporting his homeland from abroad while building a future centered on service to others.
“Being a Ukrainian student during the times of the full-scale war in my country, I decided that one of the most reasonable and important things for me to do is try to carry the torch and do something meaningful for my country while being far away,” he says.
