As a graduate of the School of Foreign Service, you can continue to use career center resources to advance your professional goals. We will support you at every stage of your career, from landing your first job to progressing to new opportunities in your field.

Undergraduate alumni career resources

Georgetown’s Alumni Career Services works to provide alumni with lifelong career development and networking opportunities at all stages of career development.

Career resources for undergraduate alumni

Handshake as a database for open jobs and internships and a means to connect with members of the community. You can use Handshake to:

  • Post jobs to recruit current Georgetown students.
  • View and register for upcoming events, including career fairs, networking events, receptions, etc.
  • Schedule career exploration and industry advising sessions (the type available to you varies depending on the length of time from graduation).
  • Schedule a recorded mock interview (available only to undergraduate alumni fewer than three years out from graduation).

You can join Hoya Gateway, a professional network where you can explore career opportunities and connect with 8,000+ Hoyas for informational interviews and career opportunities.

The Cawley Career Education Center maintains a Career Development Referral Guide. Visit the front desk of the Cawley Career Education Center in the Leavey Center or email careercenter@georgetown.edu to request a copy.

Career resources for graduate alumni

Use Handshake to engage with us:

  • Schedule a one-on-one career coaching session in person, online or over the phone with a career development professional to discuss your job search needs.
  • Find and participate in career and industry events such as employer information sessions, career fairs and other job-related events. Most require an RSVP through Handshake.
  • Access a database of thousands of job postings in the public, private and nonprofit sectors.

If you can’t access Handshake, email sfscc@georgetown.edu with your name, graduation year and program. We will send you an email with a password to enter the system.

As an alumni, you can continue to access all of the career resources we offer. These include career coaching, events and online materials to help with your job or internship search like sample resumes and tips on interviews, salary negotiation and how to write an effective cover letter.

Support students and recent graduates

We encourage alumni to stay involved with the School of Foreign Service by supporting current students and recent graduates on their journey to becoming international affairs leaders. These students sit where you once did and have goals that will take them to where you are now. Your advice and perspective are invaluable.
