What is the Accelerated Master’s Program (1+1)?

The 1+1 program is an integrated bachelor’s-to-master’s pathway that lets you earn a Georgetown graduate degree in five years total—one year less than a traditional master’s program.

After applying in your third year of study in your undergraduate program, in your fourth year, you’ll take master’s-level courses at Georgetown SFS Asia Pacific (GSAP) in Jakarta. These courses count toward both your undergraduate degree and the first year of your Georgetown master’s—so you’re making double progress without extending your time in school. Once you complete your bachelor’s, you transition fully into Georgetown’s graduate program and spend your fifth year in Washington, DC, finishing your graduate degree at the School of Foreign Service.

Who is it for?

The accelerated master’s program is designed for high-achieving undergraduates at our partner universities who are ready to take their studies to the next level. This program is for you if you are:

  • Pursuing a degree in international relations, political science, sociology, social welfare, development studies, economics or a related field
  • Interested in careers in diplomacy, international development, public policy, international organizations, finance, international business, climate policy or regional security
  • Intellectually curious, analytically rigorous and globally minded–with a demonstrated commitment to addressing complex challenges across the Global South and the Asia Pacific

Curriculum

At Georgetown SFS Asia Pacific (GSAP) in Jakarta, you will take field-based policy training that puts you at the intersection of government, business, and international organizations. Then, you will complete your Master of Science in Foreign Service, Master of Arts in Security Studies or Master of Arts in Asian Studies at Georgetown University’s Washington, DC campus—at the center of global policymaking.
