There are many ways you can fund your graduate program at the School of Foreign Service, including through external scholarships and fellowships. Other options include merit aid, assistantships and federal aid.

These scholarships are not specific to Georgetown University students or programs. These are external opportunities available for anyone to apply to. 

  • A-1 Auto Transport Annual Scholarship: A-1 Auto Transport annually awards three scholarships valued at $1,000, $500, and $250 to current full-time or part-time students.
  • AFCEA Educational Foundation: AFCEA International annually awards up to ten scholarships ($5,000) for students pursuing degrees related to intelligence and national security. 
  • Air Force Association – Captain Jodi Callahan Memorial Scholarship: The Captain Jodi Callahan Memorial Scholarship provides a $1,000 scholarship to an active duty Air Force, full-time Air National Guard or full-time Air Force Reserve (officer or enlisted soldier) pursuing a master’s degree in a non-technical field of study.
  • Air Force Association – Mike & Gail Donley Spouse Scholarship: The Air Force Spouse Scholarship program encourages Air Force spouses to pursue associate, bachelor’s or graduate/postgraduate degrees. To be eligible, the applicant must be a spouse of an Air Force active duty, airman or member of the Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve. Spouses who are themselves Air Force personnel or in ROTC are not eligible.
  • American Association for University Women – International Fellowships: These fellowships fund full-time study or research for women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Graduate and postgraduate study is supported. The grants provide support for community-based projects that benefit women and girls in the fellow’s home country. 
  • American Indian College Fund Full Circle Scholarships: To apply for these scholarships, you must have U.S. citizenship, full-time enrollment in a graduate program at an accredited public, private (nonprofit) or tribal college or university, registration as a member of a federal or state recognized tribe or a descendant of at least one grandparent or parent who is an enrolled tribal member (Alaska Natives may use Native Corporation membership) and a minimum grade point average of 2.0.
  • American Indian Graduate Center Fellowship for Native American Graduate Students: This provides approximately $1,200,000 in fellowships to more than four hundred American Indian and Alaska Native graduate and professional students each year. Graduate fellowships are monetary awards to American Indian and Alaska Native graduate or professional degree-seeking students who meet all eligible criteria. The fellowship is typically between $1,000 and $5,000 per academic year (not including summer), and varies yearly.
  • American Institute of Polish Culture – Harriet Irsay Scholarship: This award is for  American students, preferably of Polish heritage, who wish to continue their education. Eligible recipients are full-time students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents studying communication, education, film, history, international relations, journalism, liberal arts, Polish studies, public relations, or business whose thesis is directly related to Poland.
  • AmeriCorps Award: Upon successfully completing a term of service, AmeriCorps members are eligible to receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, which may be used only to pay college costs or repay student loans. Members may earn up to two awards and have seven years to use this benefit.
  • Andrew K. Ruotolo, Jr. Memorial Scholarship: You must be a resident of New Jersey who has been accepted for admission to a graduate school or law school to apply for this scholarship. You must exhibit an interest in and commitment to enhancing the rights and well-being of children through child advocacy programs, as well as financial need. Each scholarship is a grant for $2,500 and is paid directly to the recipient.
  • Association on American Indian Affairs: This program includes seven scholarships for graduate and undergraduate students from federally recognized and non-recognized tribes. The number of students awarded per year varies due to funding availability.
  • Association of Former Intelligence Officers Scholarships, Prizes and Awards: Evaluation criteria include merit, character, seriousness of academic commitment and relevance of studies to national security interests and career ambitions. All applicants must be U.S. citizens. Dollar amounts of awards vary.
  • Beinecke Scholarship: This is for students intending to pursue graduate study in the arts, humanities or social sciences. Each scholar receives $4,000 immediately before entering graduate school and an additional $30,000 while attending graduate school. You must apply for this scholarship during your junior year of undergraduate studies.
  • Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) Scholarships: These scholarship funds are awarded to students who are members of federally recognized American Indian tribes or who have at least one-quarter degree Indian blood descendants. Check with your local BIE office for applications, eligibility and deadlines.
  • Bush Foundation Fellowship: The Bush Foundation seeks people who possess a vision for strengthening the common good within the Bush Foundation region and who are willing to devote time, energy and skills to make that vision a reality. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, at least 24 years old at the time of the application deadline, have lived for one continuous year immediately before the application deadline in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota or one of the 23 sovereign nations that share the same geographic area with these states.
  • Celia M. Howard Fellowship: The Celia M. Howard Fellowship gives financial assistance to train well-qualified Illinois women for study in diplomacy.
  • Central Intelligence Agency Graduate Scholarship Program: This is a financial needs-based initiative where graduate students serve as scholarship recipients with the CIA, attend an accredited college/university full-time, and work during summer breaks at the agency.
  • CIRI Foundation (Cook Inlet Region, Inc): The CIRI Foundation encourages the education and career development of Alaska Natives through postsecondary scholarships and grants, research and other educational projects. Applicants must be descended from original enrollees of the Cook Inlet Region.
  • Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Scholarship: CHCI Scholars provides critical financial assistance to increase graduation rates among Latino students in post-secondary education. The one-time award amounts to $5,000 for graduate-level study and assists with tuition, room and board, textbooks and other educational expenses.
  • Evalee C. Schwarz Charitable Trust for Education – Interest Free Loans: The Evalee C. Schwarz Charitable Trust for Education provides interest-free loans to undergraduate and graduate students with exceptional academic performance and significant financial need. To qualify for a loan, you must be a U.S. citizen when applying and qualify for financial need in the form of government grants. You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and demonstrate an outstanding academic achievement. Loan amounts generally range from $5,000 to $15,000 with a $50,000 lifetime cap per student.
  • Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund: FEEA sponsors the only merit-based scholarship competition program open exclusively to federal employees, their spouses and their children. More than 400 students from 27 regions win scholarships from $500 to $2,500. Top students in each region have the chance to win two additional awards.
  • GI Bill/Yellow Ribbon Program: This program is coordinated by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs for eligible U.S. Veterans.
  • Government Finance Officers Association: These scholarships are for students preparing for state and local government finance careers.
  • Hispanic Scholarship Fund: HSF has awarded over $400 million in scholarships and provides ancillary programs for candidates, scholars and their families. Award amounts generally range from $500 to $5,000.
  • Islamic Scholarship Fund (ISF): ISF encourages Muslim students in the United States to pursue college and postgraduate degrees in the humanities, social sciences and liberal arts.
  • Jewish Vocational Service of Los Angeles Scholarship Program: The JVS Scholarship Program provides qualified Jewish students whose primary residence is in Los Angeles with need-based financial aid. Recipients must be Jewish, at least 16 years old, a permanent and legal resident of Los Angeles County for a minimum of three years, a U.S. citizen or documented legal permanent U.S. resident and planning to attend an accredited college or university in the U.S. full-time (minimum 12 units per term). You must maintain a 3.0 GPA for every semester or quarter enrolled and demonstrate verifiable financial need, including FAFSA.
  • The John Gyles Education Awards: The John Gyles Education Awards are available for full-time students in all fields of study. Criteria other than academic ability and financial need are considered in the selection process. Selected students will receive up to $3,000. Requirements include full Canadian or American citizenship and a minimum GPA of 3.5.
  • The John Kenneth Galbraith Policy Fellowship Program: The ADA Education Fund awards Galbraith Fellowships to outstanding college graduates or graduate students. You should have majored in economics, international relations, public policy or a related discipline and have demonstrated an interest in national policy. Fellows are selected from a national pool and must demonstrate strong research/writing skills, community service, a commitment to liberal ideals and plans for future study or a career in public policy.
  • Kinesis Scholarship for Puerto Rican Residents: These scholarships are for Puerto Rican students admitted to a graduate program in universities located outside of Puerto Rico. To be eligible, you must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, be a legal resident of Puerto Rico for at least two years, be accepted to a graduate program located in an institution outside of Puerto Rico and demonstrate financial need and desire or initiative to improve the future of Puerto Rico.
  • The Dolores Zohrab Leibmann Fund: This fund is for advanced education and graduate study grants. You should be pursuing or about to pursue an advanced degree in the humanities, social sciences or natural sciences (including law, medicine, engineering, architecture or other formal professional training) and have a very high level of academic achievement. Fellows receive funds towards tuition in addition to up to $18,000 for room and board, living expenses and income taxes. The award is renewable.
  • National Italian American Foundation: Awards are made on the basis of academic merit to Italian American students demonstrating outstanding potential and high academic achievements.
  • The National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW) National Pathfinder Scholarship: Three annual scholarships of $2,500 provide financial assistance and support to women seeking undergraduate or graduate degrees.
  • National Society of Collegiate Scholars: A number of scholarships with varying eligibility criteria are available to members of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Application deadlines and award amounts vary.
  • National Science Foundation (Graduate Research Fellowship Program): This program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines pursuing research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in the U.S. and abroad.
  • National Science Foundation Scholarship for Service: Scholarship for Service is a unique program designed to increase and strengthen the cadre of federal information assurance professionals who protect the government’s critical information infrastructure. These scholarships fully fund the typical costs for books, tuition and room and board while attending an approved institution of higher learning. Additionally, graduate student participants receive stipends of up to $12,000.
  • Navajo Nation Scholarship: This provides financial assistance through grant awards to eligible Navajo students wishing to attend or attending graduate school, utilizing the Navajo Nation Graduate Trust Fund.
  • The Thomas R. Pickering Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship: The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship attracts outstanding individuals from all ethnic, racial and social backgrounds interested in pursuing a Foreign Service career with the U.S. Department of State. You must be seeking admission to a two-year master’s degree program. You will receive financial support of up to $42,000 annually for tuition costs, room and board, books and mandatory fees, including an academic year stipend of $18,000 per year.
  • Pride Foundation Scholarships: The Pride Foundation provides post-secondary educational scholarships to current and future leaders in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and straight ally community from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Preference is given to students who are self-identified LGBTQ, members of LGBTQ families or straight allies who have been strongly supportive of the LGBTQ community. All scholarships emphasize demonstrated commitment to equality and civil rights for all people.
  • Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Program: This program helps students achieve a master’s or joint degree, typically in public policy, public administration or international affairs. Applications are only accepted while a student is enrolled in an undergraduate program.
  • Public Policy and International Affairs Fellowship Program: This program prepares young adults from historically underrepresented groups for leadership positions in government, nonprofits and international organizations.
  • The Charles B. Rangel Graduate Fellowship Program: The Rangel Graduate Fellowship attracts and prepares outstanding young people for careers in the foreign service to help formulate, represent and implement U.S. foreign policy. It supports them through two years of graduate study, internships and professional development activities, and entry into the foreign service. The Rangel Fellowship will provide up to $42,000 per year for tuition, mandatory fees and other educational and living expenses, including an $18,000 annual living stipend.
  • Roothbert Fund, Inc. (Education): Roothbert Fund scholarships are open to all U.S. citizens regardless of sex, age, color, nationality or religious background. While the fund does not emphasize any particular form of religious practice or worship, it seeks to support persons motivated by spiritual values. Preference will be given to those who can satisfy high scholastic requirements and are considering careers in education.
  • Savoy Orders Pigott Scholarship: Students enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university, are citizens or permanent residents of the United States and have proven financial need and a minimum academic grade point average of 3.0 or its equivalent, will be eligible for consideration for the scholarship. Recipients are selected based on proven financial need, academic strengths, extracurricular involvement, an essay question and two letters of recommendation from academic sources.
  • Leopold Schepp Foundation Grants in Aid: The foundation grants approximately 200 individual awards each year to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in four-year bachelor’s programs and full-time graduate students. You must be under 40 years of age at the time of application. Awards are based on demonstrated financial need. The maximum annual award is $8,500.
  • Sons of Italy Foundation: National Leadership Grant: This scholarship is for U.S. citizens of Italian descent (at least one Italian or Italian American grandparent).
  • Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans: This fellowship provides opportunities for continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their fields. The program honors and supports the graduate education of 30 New Americans – permanent residents or naturalized citizens if born abroad, otherwise children of naturalized citizen parents — each year. At the time of selection, fellows must be college seniors or early in a graduate program. Each fellow receives tuition and living expenses totaling as much as $90,000 over two academic years.
  • StudySoup – First in Family: StudySoup rewards the exceptional work that goes into becoming a first-generation student. One student will receive a $2,000 scholarship to increase educational mobility. You must demonstrate leadership qualities, commitment to your education and a capacity to triumph over challenges.
  • Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship: This merit-based program helps students fulfill dreams of a higher education. To be eligible, you must be in 9th-12th grade high school, college or a graduate student, including adult students, legal residents of the U.S. and currently in school or planning to start school within the next 12 months. Winners are chosen by a committee based on a personal statement. The first-place award is a $1,000 scholarship. The award can be used for tuition, room and board, required fees or any educational expense.
  • Tillman Military Scholarship: The Tillman Military Scholars program supports our nation’s active and veteran service members and their families by removing financial barriers to completing a degree or certification program. The scholarships cover direct study-related expenses such as tuition and fees, and other needs, including housing and child care. Specific military-based eligibility requirements apply.
  • The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation: The Truman Scholarship provides funding to students pursuing graduate degrees in public service fields. Students must be college juniors at the time of selection. The foundation also assists with career counseling, internship placement, graduate school admissions and professional development.
  • United States Department of Agriculture, Public Service Leaders Scholarship Program: The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Public Service Leaders Scholarship Program provides undergraduate and graduate-level students a challenging internship opportunity combined with a scholarship. It promotes public service and creates access to higher education. Upon completing the program and degree requirements, participants become permanent employees of the USDA.
  • Walter S. Barr Fellowships: Applicants must be Hampden County, MA, residents or qualified former residents. Awards are made to students pursuing a specific post-graduate degree. If that degree program requires more than one year of full-time study, the award can be renewed for as many as two additional years. Awards will be made based on all available information, including school records, recommendations and examination scores. Consideration will be given to the applicant’s merit and financial need.
  • WID Scholar Program: This scholarship encourages women to pursue careers related to national security/defense interests of the United States and to provide development opportunities to women already working in those fields. You must be a U.S. citizen, currently enrolled or expecting to enroll in the following term, demonstrate financial need, have a minimum GPA of 3.25 and demonstrate interest in national security.

  • Alberta Scholarships Program – Sir James Lougheed Awards of Distinction: This program recognizes academic achievement and provides Albertans with the opportunity for advanced study at institutions outside of Alberta. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or Landed Immigrants, Alberta residents and enrolled or planning to enroll full-time in a graduate program at an institution outside of Alberta.
  • American Center of Oriental Research Scholarships and Fellowships: This is a series of monetary grants based on research within the Asian continent. 
  • American Association of University Women (AAUW) International Fellowships: International fellowships are awarded for full-time graduate or postgraduate study or research to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The AAUW Master’s/First Professional Degree Fellowship amounts to $18,000.
  • Armenian Students Association: Scholarships for college and graduate students are offered each academic year. Applications are available at the end of the current calendar year, with a deadline of March 15 in the following year.
  • Azerbaijani Government Scholarship Program: This scholarship, funded by the government of Azerbaijan, provides full funding for Azerbaijani graduate students to study medicine, economics, management, information and communication technologies and law.
  • Baltic-American Freedom Foundation: Various U.S. scholarships are offered to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania residents, including the Professional Internship Program for university students and recent graduates.
  • Barsa Scholarships Program: This program assists graduate and undergraduate students from designated Latin American countries in defraying the costs of U.S. training in certain priority fields. Awards are partial, supporting other monies for such items as cost of living or tuition and fees. Graduate awards are renewable up to a total of two years. Undergraduate awards are renewable up to a total of four years. Graduate awardees are typically nominated from a pool of Fulbright scholars, and undergraduate awardees are typically IIE undergraduate scholarship winners from participating countries.
  • Beca a la Excelencia Academica Jose Alberto Healy Noriega Scholarship: This scholarship funds higher education for Mexican citizens in master’s and doctoral studies. It is awarded annually to an outstanding individual to study in the U.S. or Canada, with preference given to those in journalism, communication studies and political science.
  • Becas Talentia Fellowship Program: This is an initiative by the Ministry for Innovation, Science and Enterprise in Andalusia, Spain (at present the Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Science) that provides postgraduate scholarships to students from Andalusia to study abroad in selected institutions. These are awarded to students for a minimum of six months and a maximum of 24 months. You must have citizenship from a European Union member state, a connection with Andalusia by birth, residence, work, university or blood, an EU undergraduate degree, graduated within 10 years of the application and receipt of proof of application/admission to a university of international prestige.
  • Belgian American Educational Foundation, Inc.: This fellowship is for study or research in the United States. Besides the amounts indicated, the foundation pays for health insurance at the U.S. institution. Fellows are expected to stay in the U.S. for a full academic year (nine months) to study at a U.S. institution or for one year (twelve months) to research at a research institution. If you can finance your studies or research in the U.S., you may apply for an honorary fellowship from the Foundation.
  • BEST (BUNAC Educational Scholarship Trust) Scholarship: These scholarships offer financial assistance to eligible applicants looking to undertake postgraduate study in the U.S. or Canada for UK passport holders who are currently or have been within the last five years, in full-time tertiary education at a UK university or college. Preference is given to those whose proposed study in North America will likely do the most to further transatlantic understanding or those required to go to the U.S. for a specific course.
  • BeursOpener: BeursOpener is a database maintained by Nuffic with funding opportunities for Dutch students and scholars wanting to go abroad to study, do an internship or conduct research.
  • Bolashak International Scholarship of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan: These scholarships are fully funded by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It is awarded for bachelor’s, master’s and Ph.D. degree studies and for conducting research, covering all study-related costs (tuition fees, accommodation expenses, book allowances, medical insurance, travel expenses, entry visas, registration costs, application fees, etc.). It is awarded to future leaders on an individual basis each year to train in economics, engineering, medicine and other key fields.
  • Canadian Federation of University Women: The Canadian Federation of University Women supports graduate study, literacy and the creative arts through awards and grants. It annually offers fellowships, grants and awards to Canadian women for post-graduate study. 
  • CANhelp: This provides Canadian citizens with loans from the Canadian Higher Education Loan Program.
  • The Lyford Cay Foundations: These partial scholarships support Bahamian citizens pursuing higher education and technical training at approved institutions overseas and at The College of The Bahamas. Academic scholarships are available at undergraduate, graduate and doctorate levels.
  • Central Bank of Mexico FIDERH Loan for Graduate Students: FIDERH is a federal trust managed by the Central Bank of Mexico, offering graduate loans for Mexican citizens to study in Mexico or abroad. Loan amounts are up to MXN 200,000 per year, repaid over a ten-year term beginning one year after graduation. TOEFL minimum scores apply. All applicants require a co-signer.
  • Citadel Capital Scholarship: The Citadel Capital Scholarship Foundation aims to develop high-caliber professionals to help enhance Egypt’s growth in all sectors. It grants academic scholarships for talented and promising young Egyptian men and women to pursue master’s degrees and Ph.D. programs abroad in all fields of study.
  • Colfuturo Scholarship-Loan Program: The Colfuturo Scholarship-Loan Program finances the costs of graduate studies for Colombian students worldwide for up to $25,000 per year and a maximum two-year stay abroad. Eligible students must have been admitted unconditionally into a high-quality graduate program (in any field of knowledge and anywhere in the world), have at least one year of work experience, present an international language proficiency examination and have an excellent academic record.
    After graduation, they must return to Colombia within one year to qualify for a scholarship comprising a 50% waiver of the loan.
  • College Women’s Association of Japan (CWAJ) Scholarship Program: These merit scholarships are for women in various study abroad and non-Japanese graduate scholarship programs. Awards are based on the candidates’ academic excellence, the quality and feasibility of their proposed study and their potential to contribute to society. There are no age limits or restrictions on area of study. Applicants must be women who are citizens or special permanent residents of Japan, living in Japan from the time of application through the interview. 
  • Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cientifico e Tecnologico (CNPq): CNPq offers fellowships for graduate students of Brazilian nationality.
  • Coordination for Advancement for High Level Personnel (CAPES): CAPES provides fellowships for students of Brazilian nationality to pursue graduate studies.
  • Corporación de Formento de Producción (CORFO) Graduate Student Loans: CORFO offers loans to citizens or permanent residents of Chile, admitted to graduate programs nationally or abroad. All programs of study must have a duration of at least one academic year. Maximum loans granted are CLF 3,000. Eligible expenses include tuition, academic fees and round-trip flight tickets for applicants and their immediate families. 
  • CNOUS: The French government and some regional councils offer these scholarships for study abroad, usually for one academic year.
  • CSN: This provides funding for Swedish students to study in the U.S. or other countries and is supported by the Government of Sweden.
  • Cyprus Children’s Fund: This fund administers several scholarship programs for study in the U.S.
    • Theodore and Wally Lappas Award for Greek Cypriot students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need and are studying full-time in an accredited U.S. institution.
    • Thomas and Elaine Kyrus Endowment for a student from the area or town of Morphou studying in an accredited U.S. institution.
    • Peter G. and Bess Kolantis Decker Endowment for a student of Greek Cypriot origin attending an accredited U.S. institution full-time and demonstrating scholastic aptitude.
    • Cyprus Children’s Fund Scholarship Endowment for students who are studying full-time in an accredited U.S. institution. Applicants may be of Greek and Greek Cypriot origin, with residence in the U.S., Cyprus and Greece. Award categories include architecture, arts and humanities, engineering, languages, law, medicine, performing arts, science, theology and other disciplines.
    • The Stanley Dru Award is presented to a full-time student in an accredited U.S. institution of Greek Cypriot origin who resides on the island of Cyprus.
  • Cyprus Ministry of Finance Student Grants: These are small grant awards for any Cypriot studying at an accredited college/university, regardless of financial need, in any field of study.
  • Cyprus State Scholarship Foundation: Scholarships are awarded annually for study abroad at the bachelor’s and master’s level in any field of study, as well as Ph.D. level in specific fields of study.
  • Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) / German Academic Exchange Service: Every year, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports well over 100,000 German and international students and researchers around the globe.
  • East-West Center United States, South Pacific Scholarship Program: Funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, these are educational opportunities for individuals from South Pacific countries to pursue degrees at U.S. institutions in fields relevant to the development needs in the Pacific islands region. It is available to citizens of the Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.
  • Fellowship for the Future: This supports master’s degree study at distinguished U.S. graduate schools for students and young professionals in Croatia demonstrating excellence and strong motivation to be leaders in their field. The full scholarship enables fellows to join a global learning environment to learn from leading experts and interact with distinguished classmates from around the world. It is intended for study at one- and two-year master’s programs emphasizing professional skills development and application of academic knowledge.
  • Fernand Lazard Foundation Interest-Free Loans for Young Academics: These are interest-free loans for young students at the beginning of their careers. To qualify for a loan, candidates must hold a university degree from a Belgian university, be nationals of one of the Member States of the European Union and committed to settling and working in Belgium until the bond matures.
  • Finlandia Foundation National Trust Scholarship: Applicants must be citizens of the United States or Finland and accepted to an accredited institution of higher learning. Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students for study in Finland (any subject) and the United States (subjects related to Finland). Individual scholarships in the past have generally been in the $1,000 to $3,000 range.
  • The Finnish Cultural Foundation: The purpose of the Finnish Cultural Foundation is to “promote and develop cultural and economic life” in Finland. The Foundation provides grants to individuals and groups working in the sciences and the arts, and to people and organizations in other fields of intellectual and cultural endeavor.
  • Finnish Fulbright Center: The Finnish Fulbright Center has an extensive listing of organizations that provide funding for research and study in the United States.
  • Foundation for Educational Development: This provides financial support for Czech students to study abroad.
  • Fulbright Foreign Student Program: A mainstay of America’s public-diplomacy efforts, the Fulbright Foreign Student Program brings citizens of other countries to the United States for master’s degree or Ph.D. study at U.S. universities or other appropriate institutions.
  • Fundacao Estudar: This includes several scholarships for students from Brazil, including graduate scholarships for studying international affairs.
  • Fundación Montemadrid: This provides 80 scholarships for Spanish students to pursue postgraduate studies in their field of choice in the U.S., European Union (except Spain) and Canada. 
  • Fundación La Caixa: La Caixa grants for postgraduate studies abroad help Spanish researchers and professionals train at the world’s best academic centers. Grants are awarded each year for postgraduate studies in the United States, Canada, China, India, Germany, France, Great Britain and other European countries. Grants cover the full cost of matriculation, travel expenses and monthly allowances that can be extended up to 24 months.
  • Fundación Pedro Barrié de la Maza: The Fundación Pedro Barrié de la Maza is a private foundation devoted to promoting the development of Galicia from a global perspective. If you have a link to Galicia, are of Spanish nationality and are highly motivated to complete your graduate training or research, there are 32 scholarships for master’s, doctoral, postdoctoral research and scientific research projects. 
  • Fundacja Batorego Awards: This award provides funding for Polish citizens to study abroad.
  • FUNED: FUNED helps young Mexican college graduates develop their potential to become the leaders of a better tomorrow for their country. It offers complementary financing to obtain a master’s degree from a reputable university, local or abroad, preferably in matters related to economic and productive activity. FUNED grants are provided for studies in business administration and financing, economics, law, international trade and political science, engineering, architecture, international relations, etc.
  • Georgia Master’s Program Abroad: This provides funding for Georgian citizens pursuing master’s degrees in business administration, engineering, sciences, law, social sciences and humanities. The scholarship can provide full or partial funding, according to the student’s need. It is funded by the Government of Georgia.
  • Government of India National Overseas Scholarship: The National Overseas Scholarship program provides financial assistance to students pursuing higher studies abroad in certain subjects at the master’s level and for Ph.D. and post-doctoral research programs.
  • Guatefuturo Programa de Crédito-beca: Guatefuturo finances Guatemalan professionals who have been admitted to the best universities in the world with a loan-scholarship, of which 50% will be forgiven if the recipient fulfills its requirements.
  • Hebrew Free Loan Society Jean and Albert Nerkin Scholarship Fund: The Jean and Albert Nerkin Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to needy Jewish individuals for secular studies only, in colleges, universities, graduate or professional schools. You must be an international student and not have U.S. citizenship. International students must fill their address at their home country as their permanent address. Selected students will receive up to $5,000 annually for up to four years of education. This commitment will be limited to one year at a time, and students must reapply each year for consideration.
  • HONDUFUTURO: HONDUFUTURO offers up to $25,000 per year for a maximum of two years. In total, the foundation offers loans of up to $50,000. You may be awarded scholarships for 50% of the loaned amount, provided you are awarded your postgraduate degree, return to Honduras and remain and work in the country for three to five years. You may also obtain an additional 10% discount if, upon returning to the country, you work for one consecutive year as teachers in public or private universities. Those pursuing master’s degrees in management or MBA programs are awarded only 25% of the loaned amount.
  • Hungarian American Coalition Dr. Delmer Kiss Scholarship: The Hungarian American Coalition provides partial annual scholarships to Hungarian students to pursue studies at U.S. colleges and universities. You must be a citizen of Hungary, or a member of an ethnic Hungarian community in Slovakia, Romania, Voivodina, Serbia or Ukraine, have gained admission as a full-time student to a U.S. college or university and should provide proof of scholarship and other sources of financial support.
  • Icelandic Student Loan Fund: Icelandic students are entitled to student loans if they:
    • Have been a resident of Iceland for five continuous years preceding the application date.
    • Have pursued paid employment in Iceland for at least the last 12 months preceding the date of the application. 
    • Have been a resident of Iceland over the same period, or else have worked less than 12 months but been a resident of Iceland for a total of two years over a period of five continuous years. 
    • The maximum loan amount available for study in the U.S. is $44,100.
  • IKY State Scholarships Foundation: These scholarships are for graduate level studies for Greek students.
  • Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education: This scholarship supports educated and qualified Indonesians who possess leadership qualities and a strong vision as future leaders of Indonesia. The scholarship funds master’s or doctoral programs in top universities within and outside the country. 
  • Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation Scholarship: Inlaks Scholarships provide the opportunity to young people with exceptional talent in any field to broaden their vision abroad and improve skills to operate in society as a future vehicle of change. Scholarships are open to all Indian citizens who reside in India at the time of application. Candidates are generally expected to hold a good first degree from a recognized university in India. Indian citizens who hold a good undergraduate degree from a recognized university outside India must have resided continuously and been employed or been studying in India for at least two years, at the time of application. People holding a postgraduate degree from a university outside India are not eligible. Those who have started but not completed a postgraduate degree outside India are also ineligible. Candidates must be below 30 years of age on the first of July in the year of application. Candidates already studying or have started their program abroad are not eligible.
  • Institute of International Education: The Fulbright Foreign Student program brings citizens of other countries to the United States for a master’s degree or Ph.D. at universities or other appropriate institutions. Foreign students apply for Fulbright Fellowships through the Fulbright Commission/Foundation or U.S. Embassy in their home countries.
  • International Peace Research Association Foundation: The Senesh Fellowship for Women from Developing Countries makes an award every other year for two years of graduate study focusing on peace and development issues ($5000/year) for women from developing countries who have been accepted into a graduate program.
  • The Italian Student Loan Fund: The Italian Student Loan Fund (Fondo per Studenti Italiani) is a nonprofit institution with contributions from Italian and American companies, banks and organizations. Within the framework of improving relationships between the United States of America and Italy, the fund offers financial aid to Italian university graduates who wish to attend a post-graduate course in the United States.
  • JN Tata Endowment for the Education of Indians: The endowment awards only loan scholarships. The selected scholars may also qualify for a gift award.
  • Joint Japan World Bank Fellowship Program: This program is for graduate studies related to economic development. The program awards scholarships to individuals from World Bank member countries to undertake graduate studies at renowned universities.
  • George and Victoria Karelias Foundation: These scholarships support graduate-level studies for Greek students in business administration, economics, public administration and shipping.
  • Kemlu-Fulbright Program: The Kemlu-Fulbright Program is a scholarship cooperation program between Aminef and MoFA of Indonesia to facilitate study at respected U.S. universities for Indonesian diplomats and future diplomats. This is different from the standard Fulbright.
  • Korea Foundation Fellowship for Graduate Students: The KF Scholarship for Graduate Studies aims to foster a new generation of Korean studies scholars by providing a scholarship to students currently enrolled in an M.A. or Ph.D. program in Korean studies.
  • The Korean American Scholarship Foundation (KASF): This helps meet the financial needs of Korean-American students in pursuit of academic and personal achievement. It encourages community and civic service as integral to leadership development and nurtures a sense of pride and confidence in Korean cultural heritage and tradition. 
  • Kosciuszko Foundation: The Kosciuszko Foundation annually awards several fellowships/grants to Poles and U.S. citizens of Polish descent for advanced study/research or teaching at universities and other institutions of higher learning in the United States. The foundation provides a cost-of-living stipend including transatlantic travel, housing allowance, health and accident insurance coverage and domestic transportation. Awards range from $7,650 to $25,500.
  • Kosovo-American Education Fund: The Kosovo American Education Fund (KAEF) Graduate Fellowship Program offers eight to ten graduate fellowships at U.S. universities to talented Kosovars demonstrating a strong commitment to the economic development of their country in their fields. You must demonstrate that your studies will have a direct and beneficial impact on Kosovo’s economic development. To be eligible, you must be a citizen of Kosovo, proficient in written and spoken English and committed to returning to Kosovo after completion of the program.
  • Lanekassen Grants for Norwegian Students Abroad: Tuition support at the postgraduate level and for study abroad programs will be given as a 70% grant and 30% loan up to NOK 60,560. Further tuition support exceeding this amount will be given as a loan. If the tuition fee exceeds NOK 118,420, an additional grant may be given. Only full-time studies are eligible, and you must have resided in Norway for a continuous period of at least two years during the last five years before undertaking the educational program.
  • Leventis Foundation: This provides grants for Cypriot doctoral candidates and post-graduate students to study abroad in the U.S. and other countries.
  • Li Po Chun Charitable Trust Fund – Overseas Postgraduate Study Scholarship: The Li Po Chun Charitable Trust Fund provides scholarships for students from Hong Kong to pursue postgraduate studies in universities or institutions overseas. Candidates should be Hong Kong residents having resided there for a continuous period of no less than seven years, holders of either a degree from a university in Hong Kong or recognized equivalent qualifications, in possession of substantial practical working experience in the relevant field of study, eligible for admission to the intended course of study and available to attend an interview conducted in Hong Kong.
  • George Lurcy Foundation: These are grants for French students for graduate study in the social sciences, arts and humanities in the U.S.
  • Mackenzie King Scholarship: The Mackenzie King Open Scholarship is open to graduates of any Canadian university who engage in postgraduate study in any field, in Canada or elsewhere in international relations or industrial relations (including the international or industrial relations aspects of law, history, politics and economics).
  • Marcus Wallenberg Foundation Grant Program: This provides funding for Swedish citizens interested in pursuing careers in or studying international trade or business. Funds can be used to defray educational expenses or as a stipend or prize. It is open to all disciplines related to international industry.
  • The Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund: The Margaret McNamara Memorial Fund supports the education of women from developing countries committed to improving the lives of women and children in their home countries.
  • Edward E. Masters Program: The USINDO Edward E. Masters Fellows Program funds the education and manages the placement of select officials from Indonesian Ministries at leading schools in the United States. Fellows are nominated by their Ministry and must meet the requirements of the program, with exacting standards applied by USINDO and other committee members during the selection process.
  • Medicus Student Exchange Program: The Swiss Benevolent Society of New York administers one to three partial grants from a fund established by Dr. Heinrich Medicus to promote student exchange between Switzerland and the United States. The grants are $10,000 each, 10 months in length and not renewable. Applicants must have Swiss citizenship, hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited university or a university of applied sciences and English proficiency with a TOEFL Internet-based iBT score of 100 or higher.
  • Namibian Fulbright Junior Staff Development Program: This program sends Namibians to the U.S. on fully-funded or partially-funded fellowships for master’s and doctorate-level degrees. A four-year degree from a recognized university is required and applications are accepted in all fields. Preference is given to candidates with little or no previous U.S. experience. Applicants must be Namibian citizens.
  • Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation Scholarships: The Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation awards interest-free loan scholarships to Indian students with a consistently good academic record. The scholarship amount (up to a maximum of Rs. 20 lakhs) is decided as per the assessment of the Foundation. Scholarships are awarded to students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in pure sciences, applied sciences, social sciences and humanities, law, architecture and management at prestigious Indian and international universities.
  • The Netherland-America Foundation (NAF): The NAF provides fellowships to Dutch graduate students for an academic year of study and/or research in the United States. The NAF in New York supports recipients. The NAF awards the grants to candidates pre-selected by the Fulbright Center in Amsterdam.
    • NAF Educational Loan Program: The NAF provides loans, interest-free loans for three years to eligible students and professionals studying in the United States or the Netherlands. Only U.S. or Dutch citizens may apply. Priority will be given to students pursuing study or research in an advanced academic degree program at an accredited institution of higher learning. Students attending summer programs as part of their graduate education may also apply. The maximum loan amount for a year of academic study or research is $10,000 and for a summer program is $2,000. If funds are available, the NAF will consider requests from individuals enrolled in a course to develop a skill or specific technical expertise. The course of study must culminate with the award of a diploma or certificate. The maximum loan amount for a year of advanced training is $3,000.
  • The Norway-America Association (Norge-Amerika Foreningen): These stipends are for Norwegian citizens for graduate study and research in the U.S. Award amounts range from $2,000 to $20,000.
  • The Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (Lånekassen): This is a government-sponsored program that offers tuition and travel assistance for Norwegian students studying full-time outside of Norway.
  • Nuffic VSB Foundation: These are scholarships for Dutch students who want to do graduate-level work abroad. Awards are for up to two years and cover all related academic costs, including a monthly allowance.
  • Olomouc Region Study Scholarship: This is a partial scholarship support for students from the Olomouc region.
  • Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit: These are scholarships for Greek students for doctoral and post-graduate studies abroad.
  • OFID (The OPEC Fund for International Development) Scholarship Award: The OFID scholarship supports one student or candidate for master’s degree studies. The applicant may be from any developing country and must first obtain admission to pursue a master’s degree studies in a relevant field of development at any recognized university/college in the world. The winner of the OFID Scholarship Award receives a scholarship of up to US$100,000. Funds will be spread over a maximum of two years, toward completing a master’s degree, or its equivalent, at an accredited educational institution.
  • Open Society Foundations: Open Society Foundations awards grants, scholarships and fellowships on a regular basis throughout the year, including Civil Society Leadership Awards.
  • Opportunity Program: Opportunity funding, provided by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, supports talented international students who are highly competitive for full financial aid but who do not have the financial means to apply to universities in the United States and who are not eligible for (or not funded by) U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs. Opportunity offers no guarantee of acceptance or financial aid awards at U.S. institutions. To be eligible, you must be a citizen of Belarus, the Russian Federation or Ukraine. Alumni of the Fulbright and Muskie programs and students currently studying at a U.S. higher education institution, as well as U.S. citizens and permanent residents, are not eligible. FLEX and UGRAD alumni are eligible. 
  • Panpaphian Association of America: These scholarships are awarded based on various criteria such as grades, school, recommendation letters and community involvement.
  • P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship: P.E.O International Peace Scholarship Fund provides scholarships for selected women from other countries for graduate study in the United States and Canada. Applicants must be qualified for admission to full-time graduate study, working toward a graduate degree in a college or university in the United States or Canada. The maximum amount awarded to a student is $10,000.
  • Rafael del Pino Foundation: The Rafael del Pino Foundation provides scholarships for Spanish graduates and higher-degree graduates to continue their studies in universities and research centers. The Foundation aims to train future leaders in economics, law, business, politics, international relations, mass media and teaching.
  • Programa Conjunto CONACYT – FUNED: Successful applicants will receive a scholarship of $25,000 for their M.A. program in the social sciences, business and science fields that FUNED finances. In addition, students would receive a loan from FUNED to complement the scholarship. This scholarship/ loan is available for students who have already applied and been accepted to the university program.
  • Prospect Burma Scholarship: Prospect Burma runs an annual scholarship competition for Burmese students wishing to study abroad. Students must be accepted or already enrolled in a master’s degree before applying.
  • Renaissance Scholarship Fund: This supports students from the city of Usti nad Labem and its region, and is administered by the Euroregion Labe Community Foundation.
  • Roma Education Fund Supplementary Grant Program: The Roma Supplementary Scholarship Grant Programme is designed to provide partial support to Roma students who are citizens of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey and Ukraine. Funds are for bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate, or postdoctoral education outside the home country. The scholarship promotes the academic mobility of Roma students and supports academic integration internationally. Scholarships are merit-based and awarded for one academic year with the possibility for renewal.
  • Romanian Government Scholarship: This is partial funding for undergraduate study, graduate study and post-doctoral research. It covers international travel and living expenses for 60 students. It is funded by the Ministry of Education, Research, Youth, and Sport and administered by the Loans and Study Scholarships Agency.
  • Leo S. Rowe Pan American Fund: This is an educational loan program of the Organization of American States. It helps Latin America and the Caribbean OAS Member countries’ citizens finance their studies or research in accredited universities across the United States by awarding interest-free loans for up to $15,000. These loans are granted on the understanding that recipients agree to repay the loan in full and return to their home countries to apply for knowledge and training, as well as continue to promote cultural exchange and development in the region. Rowe Fund loans are also available to academics and professionals with support from the university where they work in Latin America or the Caribbean for refresher courses and professional development in the United States. Courses or research must last at least one academic semester and be completed within two years.
  • Slovene Human Resources Development and Scholarship Fund: This provides numerous scholarship programs for study abroad, such as:
    • Ad futura for study abroad: Scholarships for undergraduate studies in STEM fields or graduate studies in all fields except the arts. They are awarded for the full duration of study provided the student meets the program requirements. After completion of studies, the student must return to Slovenia for employment (limited exception is possible if continuing study). 
    • Corporate Scholarships: Employers in Slovenia offer scholarships as part of their long-term recruitment strategy. Some are offered specifically for study abroad, and others can be obtained for study abroad, provided both the student and employer agree.
    • Municipality and private foundation scholarships: Many Slovene municipalities and private foundations offer various scholarships based on residency or field of study. Scholarships exist for athletes, arts, legal studies, etc.
    • State Scholarships: These need-based scholarships are awarded for study in Slovenia or abroad, for either undergraduate or graduate studies. Although there is no limit regarding field of studies, students of certain deficit programs will be entitled to a higher scholarship based on their chosen subject.
    • Zois Scholarships: These merit scholarships are awarded to students with high GPAs or outstanding achievements who study in Slovenia or abroad for high school, undergraduate or graduate studies. There is no limit regarding field of study, but students of certain deficit programs will be entitled to a higher scholarship based on their chosen subject.
  • Sophia Foundation: This supports education for Czech students in many forms, including study abroad.
  • State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic Scholarship Program (SOCAR): This provides full funding for Azerbaijani citizens interested in pursuing a career in the oil and gas industry and pursuing a master’s program in petroleum engineering, information technology, accounting, international law and business. The scholarships, awarded to 50 students per year, are fully funded and cover application fees, visa-related expenses, tuition, medical insurance, transportation and living expenses.
  • Statens Lanekasse for Utdanning: This State Educational Loan Fund provides educational grants and loans for Norwegian students abroad.
  • Studenica Foundation: These are scholarships and publishing support to individuals in the Republic of Serbia.
  • StudySoup – Global Student: StudySoup offers $2,000 to one international student planning to attend an American school for a minimum of 10 months.
  • The Sweden-America Foundation (Sverige-Amerika Stiftelsen): Every year, the Sweden-America Foundation awards approximately 40 fellowships for master’s, Ph.D., and post-doc studies in the United States and Canada. Swedish citizens with a completed undergraduate degree are eligible to apply.
  • Swiss Friends of the USA: Each year, five to seven students from Switzerland are awarded scholarships totaling CHF 15,000 to 20,000 to study in the United States. There is a separate scholarship pool for law students who want to study at Georgetown University.
  • Turkish Education Foundation (TEV): This provides up to $100,000 for two years of master’s level studies. It covers tuition and living expenses, and in some circumstances, travel. Every autumn, TEV determines the fields of study and the number of open positions for the scholarships.
  • Turkish Ministry of National Education Scholarships (MEB): This covers all academic expenses, a monthly stipend for living expenses, a return plane ticket and health insurance. It can be used for general English studies, master’s and Ph.D. levels.
  • Lilian Voudouri Foundation: These are scholarships for graduate-level studies for Greek students in a variety of fields.
  • Dan Voiculescu Foundation: These are a series of yearly grants for Romanian students of varying award amounts:
    • Junior Scholarship (for applicants aged 10-€ 18)
    • Excellence Scholarship (for applicants aged 18-€ 25)
    • Master’s Scholarship (for applicants aged 22-35)
    • Ph.D. Scholarship (for applicants aged max. 35)
  • World of Knowledge Foundation Today & Tomorrow Scholarship Program: Ten “Today & Tomorrow Scholarships” of $5,000 are awarded to international students whose 1,000-word “Letter of Advice to a Friend in the Home Country” is judged the best. International students attending U.S. universities may apply. Students must hold a GPA of 3.0 or better and maintain full-time status.
  • WorldWideStudies: The project encourages Ukrainian youth to get master’s degrees in the world’s best universities in the fields selected by the foundation as top priority for further development of Ukraine. Grants are offered in agricultural studies, environment and ecology, law and public administration. The grant primarily covers tuition fees, books and medical insurance. The grant amount is based on the needs and merits of each student. The majority of grants cover up to 60% of the amount required.
  • Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Educational Foundation: The Deborah Partridge Wolfe International Fellowship is available to graduate or undergraduate U.S. students studying abroad and/or graduate or undergraduate foreign students studying within the U.S. This is awarded for full-time study for one academic year (Fall-Spring). The amount varies from $500 to $1,000 and is paid directly to the recipient.

These scholarships are not specific to Georgetown University students or programs. These are external opportunities available for anyone to apply to.  

  • Abe Fellowship Program: The Abe Fellowship Program encourages international multidisciplinary research on topics of pressing global concern. It fosters the development of a new generation of researchers interested in policy-relevant topics and willing to become key members of a bilateral and global research network.
  • Alpha Epsilon Phi Foundation: The Alpha Epsilon Phi Foundation offers members scholarships for both undergraduate and graduate studies. All applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and will be scored based on academic performance, chapter, campus and community activities and need. Graduate applicants must complete at least one year of graduate studies before applying.
  • Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation, Inc.: The foundation awards merit and financial need graduate scholarships.
  • American Association of University Women Career Development Grant: Career development grants provide funding to women who hold a bachelor’s degree and are preparing to advance or change careers or re-enter the workforce. Primary consideration is given to women of color and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields. Grants support coursework beyond a bachelor’s degree, including a master’s degree, a second bachelor’s degree, certification program or specialized training in technical or professional fields. 
  • American Council of the Blind Scholarship: The American Council of the Blind annually awards approximately twenty scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,500 to vocational, entering freshmen, undergraduate and graduate students who are legally blind, maintain a 3.3 GPA and are involved in the school/local community.
  • American Foundation for the Blind Scholarships: The American Foundation for the Blind awards scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500 to students with vision loss.
  • Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU): AGBU offers scholarships to full-time graduate and post-graduate students of Armenian descent who are U.S. residents or citizens. Grants are available for up to three years of graduate study and up to two years of Ph.D. study. Applicants must be enrolled in degree programs at highly competitive colleges and universities in the United States with a GPA of 3.5 and above. All areas of graduate and post-graduate study will be considered. Preference will be given to communication, education, international relations, and public administration.
  • Armenian International Women’s Association (AIWA): Scholarships are awarded to full-time female students of Armenian descent attending accredited colleges or universities. Students entering their junior or senior year in college, as well as graduate students, are eligible to apply. Awards are based on financial need and merit.
    • The Getsoyian, Missirian and Najarian scholarships are awarded to students of any subject or major.
    • The Lucy Kasparian Aharonian scholarships, awarded in conjunction with the Society for Women Engineers Boston Chapter, are earmarked for students in science, mathematics, engineering, technology, computer science and architecture.
  • Armenian Relief Society of Eastern USA: The ARS Eastern USA provides graduate and undergraduate scholarships to students of Armenian descent. They are awarded from restricted funds established solely for scholarship, as directed by donors. ARS scholarship evaluation committees evaluate applicants’ merit, financial need and Armenian community involvement to determine whether to recommend a scholarship award.
  • Armenian Relief Society of North America Eremian Scholarship: The ARS Samuel and Aghavni Eremian Scholarship Fund supports students interested in pursuing educational studies that would benefit their local community after graduation. Scholarships are awarded based on merit, need and Armenian community involvement. Applicants must be accepted as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university.
  • Citibank Student Loans: Citibank offers educational loan opportunities, including the CitiAssist Graduate Loan program.
  • Community Associations Institute Research Foundation: The Byron Hanke Fellowship is available to graduate students working on topics related to community associations. Stipends range from $3,000 to $5,000. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited master’s, doctoral or law program in the United States or Canada. Fellows are expected to prepare a research paper on community associations. Students of all disciplines can apply, provided their studies relate to community associations generally and to the topic of the candidate’s proposed community associations research project. 
  • Consortium Research Fellows Program: Consortium Research Fellows are assigned to research or technical teams at the sponsoring agencies and work up to 20 hours per week during the school year and full-time in the summer. They earn between $20,400 and $40,500 per year for 1,300 service hours. They develop professionally under the mentorship of national experts, co-author publications and presentations and often accomplish a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation using fellowship research.
  • Cosmos Scholars Grant Program: The Cosmos Club Foundation grant program provides grants to meet specific research needs not covered by other supporting funds, including but not limited to special supplies, travel, unanticipated expenses that would enhance the work and the like. Specifically excluded are general financial support, tuition and living expenses (except in connection with supported travel). The number of grants to be awarded is not rigidly fixed but is expected to be at least fifteen. Award amounts will be determined individually and range from $500 to $4,000.
  • Council of Citizens with Low Vision International Scholarships: CCLVI provides scholarships to full-time students with visual impairments. Award amounts and application deadlines vary, and medical verification of low vision is required.
  • Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund: The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides grants to students actively working for peace and justice. These need-based scholarships are awarded to those who can do academic work at the university level and are part of the progressive movement on campus and in the community. U.S. citizenship is not required, but applicants must have participated in activities in the United States and be planning to enroll in an accredited program in the U.S. to apply. The maximum grant is $10,000 and may be considerably smaller depending on the applicant’s circumstances and the amount of money available. Grants are for one year, although you may reapply for subsequent years.
  • Mayme and Herb Frank Scholarship Program: Scholarship grants are awarded to U.S. and foreign students for post-graduate work focusing on federalism in its application to international integration.
  • George Mason Institute for Humane Studies Fellowship: The Humane Studies Fellowship is a non-residency fellowship program that awards up to $15,000 per year to pursue a liberty-advancing career in academia. The fellowship is open to current or prospective full-time graduate students from accredited universities anywhere in the world who have previously received IHS funding at any level or participated in an IHS program (like a summer seminar, research colloquium, policy seminar or a summer graduate research fellowship).
  • Hellenic Times Scholarship Program: The Hellenic Times awards over $100,000 in scholarships to Greek American students across the country.
  • Houtan Scholarship Foundation: The Houtan Foundation offers scholarships to students from all origins – Iranian and non-Iranian – with high academic performance and a proven interest in promoting Iran’s great culture, heritage, language and civilization. Candidates must demonstrate leadership ability and the desire to make a difference in the society where they reside. Currently, one award of $3,500 per year will be given toward graduate school education.
  • Japanese American Citizens League: The National Scholarship and Awards Program offers scholarships to entering freshmen and other undergraduate, graduate and law students.
  • Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation Scholarships: These funds are available to women who are members of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Most scholarships consist of a $3,000 award.
  • Korean-American Scholarship Foundation Eastern Region Scholarships: Scholarships are available to Korean-American and Korean students enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in the United States. Selection is based on financial need, academic achievement, school activities and community services.
  • La Unidad Latina Scholarship: La Unidad Latina Foundation awards scholarship grants to worthy and needy students to pursue higher education. Eligible degrees include master of arts, master of science, master of public administration/policy and master of social work. You must have completed at least one full-time semester of study and reside in the United States.
  • The Lint Center for National Security Studies, Inc.: The Lint Center for National Security Studies, Inc., awards merit-based scholarships for counterintelligence and national security workers, their children and scholars, to advance the study of national security, cross-cultural studies and global understanding.
  • Luys Foundation: The Luys Foundation offers scholarships for students who are Armenians, citizens of Armenia or of Armenian descent. Applicants must be between 18 and 40 years old and will be asked to provide proof of identity or that you are a direct descendant of Armenian immigrants. Scholars should play an influential part in the betterment of society and to be a proud ambassador of Armenian culture.
  • Mas Family Scholarships: You can apply for a Mas Family Scholarship if you were born in Cuba or are of direct Cuban descent, have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and are considered financially needy. Scholars may receive up to $32,000 over four years.
  • Mustard Seed Foundation: The Harvey Fellows Program seeks applications from Christians engaging in graduate study at premier universities. The fellowships are designed to recognize, encourage and support Christians who aspire to leadership in strategic realms of society where Christians appear to be underrepresented.
  • National Federation of the Blind Scholarship Program: The National Federation of the Blind annually offers blind college students in the United States the opportunity to win one of thirty national scholarships worth $3,000 to $12,000.
  • Organization of American States Scholarships: These scholarships assist the member states (U.S., Canada and Caribbean and Latin America) with domestic efforts in pursuit of integral development goals by supporting human resource development. Scholarships are awarded for an initial period of one academic year. They may be renewed for up to one additional year if funds remain available and if the renewal is necessary to complete the program of study or research for which the scholarship was initially awarded.
  • Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society Fellowships: The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi currently awards 51 fellowships of $5,000 each and six of $15,000 each to members entering the first year of graduate or professional study. Each active Phi Kappa Phi chapter may select one candidate from among its local applicants to compete for the society-wide awards.
  • Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) International: P.E.O. International has a wide range of programs, scholarships and loans to help students of all nationalities start and finish educational programs in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Pi Gamma Mu Scholarships: Pi Gamma Mu’s scholarships are intended for the first or second year of graduate work in sociology, anthropology, political science, history, economics, international relations, public administration, criminal justice, law, social work, psychology and human/cultural geography. Scholarships range from $2,000 to $1,000.
  • Point Foundation: Since its inception in 2001, Point has invested more than $3 million in outstanding lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students. A Point Scholarship covers tuition, books, supplies, room and board, transportation and living expenses, and is set up with the individual college to meet the needs of the Point Scholar.
  • Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program: The World Bank’s Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program matches aspiring development economics researchers from developing countries with World Bank research economists, creating unique opportunities for the fellows to participate in rigorous policy-relevant research in the World Bank’s Development Economics Vice Presidency. 
  • Rotary Awards: Many local Rotary clubs provide academic scholarships for undergraduate, graduate and international study to students in their area.
  • Sallie Mae: Sallie Mae offers an Online Scholarship Service in addition to the Innovation in Business & Entrepreneurship Scholarship of $1,000 to the grand prize winner and $500 to the runner-up. This opportunity is available to any undergraduate or graduate student currently studying a field related to business or entrepreneurship.
  • StudySoup – Future Innovator: StudySoup offers $1,000 monthly to future world leaders.
  • United Methodist Church Scholarships: The United Methodist Scholarship and Loan Programs are a church-wide educational service providing scholarships and loans to help supplement the financial needs of today’s students. Scholarships range from $400 to $2,000.
  • Wellesley College Graduate Fellowships and Scholarships: Wellesley College offers several fellowships and scholarships for graduate study or research for graduating seniors and alumnae. Awards are usually made to applicants currently enrolled in or applying to graduate school for the following year. Awards are for study at institutions other than Wellesley College and are open to all nationalities.
  • Zonta International The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship is for women pursuing a business or business-related degree, demonstrating outstanding potential in their field. They are awarded annually and may be used for tuition, books or living expenses at any university, college or institution offering accredited business courses and degrees. Zonta International also awards scholarships of $1,000 each at the district level and 12 international scholarships for $7,000 each.
