Xinyan Zhang
M.S. in Foreign Service Student
Xinyan Zhang is a Master of Science in Foreign Service candidate at Georgetown University, concentrating in International Development. Growing up in Shanghai, China, her global perspective was shaped by experiences across continents, including an exchange semester at Sciences Po Paris, academic programs at the University of Tokyo and London School of Economics. She also spent some time in Wiesbaden, Germany due to family ties.
Prior to joining MSFS, Xinyan graduated summa cum laude from Fudan University in Shanghai with a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics, earning honors including the RongChang Scholar and Merit-Based Scholarship. Her professional background spans editorial and translation work as an Assistant Editor at the Eurasian System Science Research Association, event communication and policy research at the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, China, and internships at the Fudan Development Institute and Arab League of States in Cairo, Egypt.
Xinyan’s interests focus on inclusive international development in the changing global order, China’s engagement with emerging economies and public diplomacy. Outside of academia, she enjoys writing, a passion she nurtures through personal projects and her editorial background. She is native in Mandarin and speaks English and French, with beginner proficiency in German and Japanese.
