Wenhan Sun

Born in Germany, Wenhan Sun is a first-generation American and graduate of Dartmouth College, with a keen interest in the intersection of humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peace operations. He brings experience in supporting data-driven decision-making from various private sector industries and aims to combine that with his experience in the public sector to find a responsible balance that data and technology can have in supporting violence prevention, post-conflict reconstruction, and crisis response. 

Wenhan graduated from Dartmouth College with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography along with a minor in International Studies and a minor in Economic Public Policy. At Dartmouth, he worked for the John Sloan Dickey Center for International Understanding and the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy’s Policy Research Shop supporting legislators and policy makers in New Hampshire and Vermont through multiple briefs ranging on diverse issues like unemployment insurance, waste disposal, healthy food access, and community nursing. He also studied for a semester at Charles University’s Faculty of Science in Prague, Czechia, examining the country and region's post-socialist transition and modern relations with the European Union.

Professionally, Wenhan previously interned for the U.S. State Department as a Public Diplomacy Intern at the U.S. Mission to International Organizations in Vienna and U.S. Embassy in Windhoek, Namibia. He also supported global health research at the Evidence Synthesis Group while based out of Pristina, Kosovo and municipal GIS projects in the City of Kansas City, Missouri. 

Alongside his policy and international affairs experience, Wenhan has developed expertise in implementing data and technology solutions that support organizational decision-making. At Epic Systems, he supported the implementation of an inpatient electronic health record system for a 14,000-employee Missouri-based regional health system. While based out of Prague, Czechia, he led the implementation and training of algorithmic multi-touch marketing attribution measuring performance impact and business intelligence for multinational firms. These experiences have reinforced his belief that technology and data, when effectively deployed, can serve as powerful tools for improving outcomes in both the public and private sectors.

In his free time, Wenhan enjoys exploring new geographies, philately, photography, playing badminton, and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs.
