Victoria Kray is a Master of Science in Foreign Service student concentrating in Global Politics and Security. She serves as a current Rep for the MSFS program. She holds bachelor’s degrees in Legal Studies and Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her academic background is in transitional justice, dispute resolution, and political psychology.
Victoria’s commitment to diplomacy is emboldened by her dedication to research and her personal experiences. Coming from a Ukrainian family still profoundly affected by the Russo-Ukrainian War, she is focused on conflict resolution, security, protecting democracy, and efficient engagement in international organizations. Victoria’s experience living in Kazakhstan and Finland, as well as her Russian and Ukrainian language skills, demonstrates attention to cultural nuance and her hands-on approach to work and learning.
She has held two internships with Massachusetts congressional representatives and constantly seeks to learn first-hand from vocal leaders focused on international diplomacy. She has also interned in the United Nations Association and Evergreen Strategy Group, as well as spent two years as a lab assistant for a social psychology lab at UMass Amherst. Her honors thesis research examined how construal level theory and perceptions of distance influence American public support for military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Victoria aims to pursue a career in the Foreign Service, but is also interested in developing experiences within the private sector in the near future. She is currently focused on security, democratic resilience, and the U.S.’s participation in holding nations accountable for violating international law.
