Shilla Kang

M.S. in Foreign Service Student

Shilla H. Kang is a Master of Science in Foreign Service candidate at Georgetown University, concentrating in Global Politics and Security, and is pursuing a Certificate in Asian Studies. Her academic focus is human rights policy and U.S.–China relations, grounded in a background in North Korean human rights.

Prior to attending Georgetown University, Shilla was a principal contributor to the development of the analytical framework linking the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) principle to North Korean human rights, which formed the conceptual foundation for South Korea’s first international conference applying R2P to the North Korean human rights context.

Shilla graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations. She has working proficiency in Korean.
