He graduated summa cum laude from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, earning a Bachelor of Science in International Politics and Government. As part of his undergraduate studies, he completed an exchange program at the University of Pennsylvania, where he focused on the history of the Middle East.
Sergio’s primary academic focus is Iran. His broader interests include technology, European security, and the relationship between politics and religion in West Asia. His undergraduate thesis examined the sectarian tensions that influenced the uprisings in Bahrain during the Arab Spring. At Georgetown, he seeks to deepen his understanding of how data, science, and quantitative analysis inform policy decisions in international affairs, while continuing his study of the Middle East.
Sergio’s professional experiences lie at the intersection of communications and international affairs. Before Georgetown, he interned at the press office of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As a freelance photographer, he documented urban landscapes in six countries in West Asia, with his work featured by the official tourism channels of Türkiye and Jordan. He currently works as a photographer and media editor for the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown.
Sergio is passionate about travel and linguistics. He has visited over 40 countries and, in addition to his native Italian, speaks English, Spanish, and Persian.
