Samira Moran

Born in New York City and raised in New Jersey, Samira Morin grew up between cultures, the daughter of a Mexican mother and a French Canadian father. This upbringing shaped her fluency in Spanish and French and gave her an early appreciation for building bridges across different communities, a thread that has run through her work ever since.

Samira graduated cum laude from UCLA with a degree in International Development Studies, minoring in Cognitive Science and Gender Studies. She went on to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Los Santos, Panama, where she worked as a Youth Leadership Development Facilitator. There, she co-founded a school Eco Club that led beach cleanups and reforestation trips, secured a grant to help build a student-led recycling center, and helped strengthen life skills in more than 100 youth through clubs, camps, and school programs.

From January 2026 until starting GHD, Samira worked as the Development Manager at Vocal Youth Miami, a nonprofit providing choral and music education to more than 600 students across 54 schools in Miami Dade County. She has led the organization's fundraising strategy and donor systems, rebuilt its CRM architecture, and planned community events including a flash mob fundraiser in partnership with a local business group. This work has deepened her passion for using data and technology to strengthen systems, an interest she plans to keep building on at Georgetown. Positive youth development has also been a common thread throughout her career, from coaching tennis and swimming for years to her Peace Corps service to her current work supporting music education for young people across Miami.

Outside of work, Samira can usually be found lounging at home with her cat, Chiwi, or out staying active on the tennis or padel court. Whether at home or abroad, she is always looking for the next place to explore.
