Renee Paul

M.S. in Foreign Service Student

Renee is pursuing a Master’s of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) at Georgetown University, concentrating in Global Politics and Security, while also serving as a cadet in Georgetown’s Reserve Officer Training Corps program. Before Georgetown, she served for over a decade in Army Special Operations. She deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, and Resolute Support Mission. She worked with the Afghan National Security Forces and Romanian and Polish Special Operations teams to advance the coalition. These experiences provided firsthand insight into the complexities of conflict and inspired her passion to strengthen U.S. national security policy. Renee earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Campbell University and graduated from the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center, where she became qualified as a Civil Affairs Special Operations Combat Medic. She deployed to Panama and El Salvador, navigating complex political, cultural, and security environments while collaborating with partner security forces, civilian organizations, and interagency counterparts. She led Women, Peace, and Security initiatives, coordinated medical civic action programs, and taught emergency medicine to multinational partners. This expanded her interests in international policymaking and diplomacy. Renee aspires to make a meaningful impact in international service, contribute to informed decision-making, and strengthen U.S. partnerships abroad, with a long-term goal of serving as a U.S. Army Foreign Area Officer.
