Nastasha Brigitte Kuan

Born and raised in the Philippines, Nastasha Brigitte Kuan is passionate about using rigorous evidence to improve educational outcomes for children. For the past several years, she worked at Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) Philippines, leading large-scale education programs in partnership with the Philippine Department of Education. Her work focused on translating research into practice by leading randomized evaluations, supporting government implementation, and strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy programs across multiple regions of the country.

Nastasha’s interest in development stems from seeing how educational inequities shape opportunities for children, particularly those from underserved communities. At IPA, she helped expand evidence-based tutoring programs from pilot studies to large-scale government implementation, working closely with educators, local governments, and international economists. She also led field operations, developed implementation systems, and contributed to impact evaluations examining how adaptive learning and targeted instruction can improve learning outcomes.

Before joining Georgetown, Nastasha earned a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and pursued graduate coursework in Economics at the University of the Philippines Diliman. These experiences strengthened her interest in combining economics, causal inference, and policy implementation to address complex development challenges.

At Georgetown, she hopes to deepen her expertise in impact evaluation, applied econometrics, and evidence-informed policymaking while learning from practitioners and researchers working across the development sector.

Outside of work, Nastasha enjoys traveling, running, discovering new cafés, watching anime, and playing Stardew Valley.
