Nashwa Saad
M.S. in Foreign Service Student
Nashwa Saad is pursuing a Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, concentrating in Global Politics and Security. Her academic interests include refugee politics, policymaking and development economics.
She has a strong background in the non-profit and international development sectors. Previously, she worked in Amman, Jordan, with local NGO JoWomenomics and the World University Service of Canada (WUSC). There, she drafted proposals and implemented development projects in collaboration with USAID, Oxfam, GIZ, and several Jordanian governmental entities. Following this work, she remained in Jordan and continued working with WUSC, researching ways to reduce economic barriers faced by refugee youth in Jordan, Malawi, and Kenya.
Nashwa previously graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Arts specializing in International Development with a minor in Political Science. Throughout her undergraduate education, she held various research assistant positions. Most notably, assessing the impact of AI on education in underdeveloped states. She also completed an undergraduate thesis investigating the effects of various refugee policies on the economic opportunities available to Syrian refugee women in Jordan, and she received the Best Thesis Award for her cohort.
Nashwa is a Canadian national of Egyptian origin, shaped by the experience of growing up between cultures and navigating the space between belonging and not belonging. This personal history, paired with her professional commitment to refugee inclusion, deeply informs her dedication to creating pathways that allow displaced and marginalized communities to dignified and equitable futures.
