Mustafa Aksakal is the author of The Ottoman Road to War in 1914 (Cambridge University Press); "Holy War Made in Germany? Ottoman Origins of the 1914 Jihad," in War in History; "The Ottoman Empire," in The Cambridge History of the First World War, edited by Jay Winter; and "The Ottoman Empire," in Empires at War, 1911–1923, edited by Robert Gerwarth and Erez Manela. His current research is focused on the social and political history of the First World War in the Middle East.
