2026 Pelosi Scholar

Class of 2028

Major: Business and Global Affairs; Minor: Economics

Hometown: Buffalo Grove, IL

Maya is excited to contribute to a dynamic Pelosi Scholars cohort, pulling from her experience in local government and economic development. She started her role in public service working for the Community Development Department of her local village government. This summer, Maya served as a district intern for Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10), advocating for Illinois constituents on the federal level. She has also conducted research with the McCourt School of Public Policy exploring the intersection of investment treaty literature and domestic business climates. Maya's diverse experiences have shaped her interest in how macroeconomic policy can affect local communities in the United States and abroad.

At Georgetown, Maya is a financial literacy coach with the Hilltop Microfinance Initiative, leads the Georgetown College Fed Challenge Team, and is a teaching assistant through the Economics Department. She is excited to learn from her fellow Pelosi Scholars while expanding her exposure to careers in public service.
