Marta Kepe
Adjunct Assistant Professor
Marta Kepe is a Senior Defense Analyst at the nonprofit, nonpartisan RAND Corporation where her work supports the U.S. Department of Defense. She is also an instructor on Baltic security, and course lead for Nordic-Baltic sub-regional courses at the Foreign Service Institute. She is also a 2023 Irregular Warfare Fellow at the Irregular Warfare Initiative, Modern War Institute, USMA, and a Senior Non-Resident Fellow at the Atlantic Council.
Kepe's research focuses on European defense and security, Russia, and great power competition and gray zone challenges in different regions of the world. Much of Kepe's work relates to the intersection of military and civilian words for building resilience against external occupation and grey zone threats, and to the generation of capabilities during a military crisis or war. Her recent work includes analyzing resilience and resistance in the Baltic states, and Ukraine, exploring great power competition in Africa and the global commons.
Kepe previously worked for RAND Europe (UK), the Latvian Ministry of Defense, and the NATO Advisory Team in Kosovo. She received her MA in Security Studies from Georgetown University.
