Mariam Alsoudi

Born in Iraq and raised in Jordan, Mariam Alsoudi is a peacebuilding and policy practitioner with experience supporting political transitions in fragile and conflict-affected settings. She is passionate about locally led approaches to peacebuilding and governance, with a particular interest in political transitions, dialogue processes, and conflict resolution.

Before joining Georgetown's Master of Global Human Development program, Mariam worked at the Institute for Integrated Transitions (IFIT) in Barcelona as a Research Associate and Project Lead. There, she led projects across Libya and Sudan while also contributing to IFIT's Middle East and North Africa Regional Programme and Transition Assistance Practice Group. Her work included coordinating multi-stakeholder dialogues, managing partnerships, conducting policy research, and working closely with local actors, international organizations, and donors to support context-specific peacebuilding initiatives.

Mariam earned her Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, where she majored in International Politics with a concentration in International Law. She also completed a Certificate in Arab Studies through Georgetown's Center for Contemporary Arab Studies.

During her undergraduate studies, Mariam gained experience in both policy and diplomatic settings, including at the Royal Hashemite Court of Jordan and the Embassy of Jordan in Washington, D.C. She was also actively involved in campus life, serving on the executive boards of Georgetown Diplomatic Strategies, the International Student Association, and the Arab Society.

In her free time, Mariam enjoys discovering new places, spending time with family and friends, reading, and tackling the occasional puzzle.
