Maria Roth
M.S. in Foreign Service Student
Maria Roth is an emerging international policy professional committed to channeling global capital toward ethical, inclusive, and sustainable development. Born in Dallas, Texas, she grew up with a deep appreciation for community, public service, and the ways local challenges connect to global systems.
Maria earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver, where she studied international relations and developed a strong foundation in economic policy, human rights, and global development. Her academic experience, combined with fieldwork and leadership roles, affirmed her belief that meaningful social change requires bridging the gap between public sector objectives and private sector influence.
Throughout her career, Maria has worked across government, nonprofit advocacy, and international programs. She has contributed to initiatives focused on economic empowerment, labor rights, and governance reform, often working with communities whose needs are overlooked by traditional development frameworks. These experiences strengthened her conviction that the private sector, when guided by responsible policy and ethical investment practices, can be a powerful force for advancing social equity and sustainability.
Maria is actively pursuing a Master of Science in Foreign Service at Georgetown University, where she will focus on international development and economic policy. She is particularly interested in sustainable finance, impact investing, and institutional reform that ensures globalization benefits marginalized populations rather than bypassing them.
She plans to build a career advising global organizations and shaping international policies that direct capital toward inclusive growth, environmental responsibility, and long term social impact. Maria is committed to creating a world where the most vulnerable communities are not rendered invisible within global systems.
