Malea Bauer

M.S. in Foreign Service Student

Malea Bauer is a Master of Science in Foreign Service candidate at Georgetown University, concentrating in Global Politics and Security. Her work focuses on international criminal organizations and illicit economies. She currently serves as an Editorial Assistant at the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs. Before beginning the MSFS program, Malea spent two years as an Organized Crime & Corruption Analyst at C4ADS, specializing in asset tracing across the Western Balkans, Latin America, and the MENA region. Malea graduated from the University of Utah as a Truman Scholar with dual degrees in International Relations and Economics. Her honors thesis on criminalizing enablers of institutional violence received the Monson Thesis Prize. During her undergraduate years, she worked as a research assistant with the Bystander Initiative at the S.J. Quinney College of Law and as an International Investment Analyst at World Trade Center Utah. Malea speaks Spanish and has studied in Prague and Madrid. Malea is originally from Montana and loves spending her free time in the outdoors.
