Luis Jacome
Adjunct Professor - Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS), School of Foreign Service
I am an Ecuadorean economist, an Adjunct Professor at the School of Foreign Service, and an international consultant on central banking policies. I was, until 2017, the Deputy Chief of the Central Banking Division at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where I worked for almost twenty years. During this time, I led missions to many countries worldwide, advising emerging markets’ central banks on monetary and macroprudential policies and managing financial crises. Before joining the IMF, I was the Governor of the Central Bank of Ecuador. I also served as the Undersecretary for the Ministry of Finance of Ecuador and represented my country before the Board of Directors of the IMF. Before teaching at Georgetown, I taught macroeconomics at several universities in Ecuador.
