Laura Kopec

2026 Pelosi Scholar

Class of 2027

Major: Culture and Politics

Hometown: Clearwater, FL

Laura is passionate about human rights from both a domestic and international perspective. In her Florida hometown, she co-founded Feeding the Fosters, a nonprofit that combats food insecurity for foster children and aged-out youth, and advocated against censorship in her school district. Laura has interned in the U.S. House of Representatives and completed research through the Georgetown Government Department exploring how race and gender identity affect candidate emergence. While studying abroad at Sciences Po in Paris, she volunteered with Serve the City to teach English and French and distribute meals to refugees in Paris. In the future, she hopes to influence global policy on immigration and sexual violence. Laura is grateful to be part of the 2026 Pelosi Scholars cohort, which will allow her the unique opportunity to further explore international law and its implementation in American society.
