Kimberley Roberts
Professor of the Practice of International Affairs and Director of Graduate Studies
Dr. Kim Roberts is Professor of the Practice of International Relations and Director of Graduate Studies at Georgetown University’s Security Studies Program. Among her research interests are International Relations theory, values-based decision-making, and the national security impact of non-state actors, including Multi-National Corporations. She is also a member of the Army Science Board and a Nonresident Senior Fellow with the Atlantic Council’s Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security, Strategic Foresight Initiative.
Dr. Roberts was previously Vice President, Government Affairs at Science Applications International Corporation. She directed SAIC’s external relationships – overseeing the company’s role as a thought leader in the Washington community. Prior to joining SAIC, Dr. Roberts served as the US Army's Public Affairs Officer in Okinawa, Japan, receiving the Commander's Award for Civilian Service. Dr. Roberts is a former international broadcast journalist, and has reported stories on economic, political, and security issues throughout the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and Haiti.
Dr. Roberts and her husband founded TractorShare, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering farming communities in developing nations by providing the agricultural tools to build a sustainable and healthy society. Currently, they are working with a community in the Yucatan peninsula to help supply much-needed farming equipment.
Dr. Roberts received a PhD from the University of Miami in International Studies, a Master of International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies, and a BA in International Politics from Pennsylvania State University.
