Joshua Stone

M.S. in Foreign Service Student

Joshua Stone is a Candidate, Master of Science in Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He is also an associate editor of the Georgetown Journal of Asian Affairs.

Previously, Joshua was the senior program coordinator for the Indo-Pacific Program at the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF). In this capacity, he organized the Japan Trilateral Forum, the Korea Trilateral Forum, and the Taiwan-US-Europe Policy Program (TUPP), among other convenings. Prior to joining GMF, Joshua was the senior researcher at the defense section of the Embassy of Japan in the United States. In this capacity, he supported US-Japan defense coordination and cooperation. Previously, he also worked as an open-source intelligence analyst contracted with the US Department of Defense, a program coordinator with the Japan Desk at the US Department of State, and as a student ambassador at Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea.

In 2024, Joshua was a member of the NextGen US-ROK Leadership Program with the Woodrow Wilson International Center and a TUPP Fellow with GMF. From 2022 to 2024, he was a Nuclear Public Policy Fellow and a Space Policy Fellow with the Nonproliferation Education Center. Since 2022, he has been a member of the Rising Indo-Pacific Security Experts group with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA.
Joshua received his bachelor's degree with honors from the University of Virginia and has studied abroad at Doshisha University and Yonsei University. He is a heritage speaker of Korean, has full professional proficiency in Japanese, and limited working proficiency in Mandarin Chinese.
