Japhet Osuji
Global Human Development Student
Japhet Osuji is a medical doctor with considerable experience in all tiers of the healthcare system in his home country, Nigeria. He earned his medical degree at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Kharkiv, Ukraine, in 2018. His passion for international development started in medical school when he volunteered to serve internally displaced Ukrainians due to tensions in some parts of the country. It was further consolidated through years of working with patients in resource-poor settings, where he discovered the enormous potential for impact through building sustainable programs.
Japhet hopes that his experience at GHD will equip him to address the holistic development needs of Sub-Saharan Africa in the international sphere. He believes life is a gift that can only be maximized in the service of others.
He speaks fluent Russian, some Ukrainian, and French and is currently learning German.
Outside of work, he loves to read personal development materials and speak on the same subject. He is currently the president of his local Toastmasters International club, and he enjoys stimulating and thought-provoking conversations and finds country music soothing.
