Jamie Schlegel

M.S. in Foreign Service Student

Jamie Schlegel is a graduate student in Georgetown University’s Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program, concentrating in International Development and planning to pursue certificates in Refugees, Migration, and Humanitarian Emergencies and Social Innovation and Global Development.

She currently serves as a program analyst at the Acacia Center for Justice, where she supports the Unaccompanied Children Program, a national initiative funded by the Office of Refugee Resettlement that partners with legal service providers across the United States to expand access to representation for unaccompanied children. Before joining Acacia, Jamie interned at the Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) in Los Angeles, assisting clients with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) renewals. She also conducted Arabic-language research at the Enabling Peace in Iraq Center (EPIC) in Washington, D.C., examining the treatment of Iraqi asylum seekers in Europe.

Originally from Story, Wyoming, Jamie holds a B.A. in International Relations and a minor in Arabic from the University of Southern California. At USC, she gained experience in both quantitative and qualitative research through projects with the Human Security and Geospatial Intelligence Lab and the Near Crisis Project Africa Team, and she served as a fellow with the USC Global Policy Institute. Her academic and professional interests include forced migration and refugee policy, human rights, and post-conflict stabilization.
