Jack Engel
M.S. in Foreign Service Student
Jack Engel is a Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) candidate at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service, concentrating in Global Politics and Security. A lifelong New Yorker, he grew up just outside New York City and graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in history from Columbia University in May 2025.
During his undergraduate years, Jack was a four-year student-athlete on the men's swimming and diving team, serving as a captain his senior year. He has also interned in the government offices of his hometown and a New York City Council Member. Through these experiences, he gained an interest in policy and its impacts on everyday people. He also studied abroad in Athens, Greece. Jack also wrote for the Sundial, a heterodox publication that promoted free speech on campus. He primarily wrote about the effects of the Israel-Hamas War on student discourse.
At Georgetown, Jack will focus on topics in national security and the Middle East while deepening his passion for serving (and exploring) the world and its many nuances.
