Grayson Clary

Adjunct Assistant Professor - Center for Security Studies (CSS)

Grayson Clary is a staff attorney at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, where he works primarily with the organization’s Technology & Press Freedom Project. His litigation, amicus, and advocacy portfolio focuses on press rights issues that arise in the context of national security, law enforcement accountability, and new technologies. Clary also represents the Reporters Committee on the advisory board of the U.S. Press Freedom Tracker.

Before joining the Reporters Committee, Clary served as a law clerk for the Honorable Merrick B. Garland on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and a Research Associate at the Woodrow Wilson Center’s Digital Futures Project. He has written on issues of national and cybersecurity for The Atlantic, Lawfare, and War on the Rocks, among other outlets. Clary holds degrees from Yale College and Harvard Law School, where he was a winner of the Sears Prize and an editor of the Harvard Law Review.
