Gina Joerger
M.S. in Foreign Service Student
Gina Joerger is an MSFS student at Georgetown University concentrating in Science, Technology, and International Affairs. She brings a strong private-sector background in software engineering, cloud computing, and semiconductors that shapes her interests in diplomacy, cyber policy, and the strategic role of emerging technologies in international security, particularly in East Asia.
Raised in Japan and the United States, she has also lived in Germany and China. She earned her B.S. in Computer Science from New York University Shanghai and East China Normal University (2021), where she also studied international politics and Chinese foreign policy.
She has four years of experience across software engineering, DevOps, and technical project management. She currently works as a Technical Project Manager at Panasonic Group–Hussmann Corporation and previously served as a Software Engineer at Bolt Graphics, a Silicon Valley semiconductor startup, in addition to engineering and project management roles at BMW Manufacturing Group. She has completed internships with Google Japan and The Governance Lab and was selected for the U.S. Department of State’s Congress–Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) scholarship program. She is fluent in English and Japanese and conversational in Mandarin and German, and plans to pursue a career at the intersection of technology, diplomacy, and national security.
In her free time, she enjoys snowboarding, skydiving, and riding her motorcycle.
