Emily Bass

M.S. in Foreign Service Student

Emily Bass is a Master of Science in Foreign Service candidate at Georgetown University, concentrating in Global Politics and Security. She has a regional focus on Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, with an emphasis on diplomacy and security policy. She speaks French and Spanish and is currently studying Russian.

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Emily earned a double major in Political Science and History of Art. She served as a Research Assistant on the US Department of Defense–funded Minerva Research Initiative, coding national constitutions in French and Spanish to produce data for statistical analysis on security institutions. Additionally, she worked as a Research Assistant to a leading Berkeley political science professor, supporting projects on democratic resilience and combatting authoritarianism.

Emily has lived and worked internationally in Denmark, France, and the United Kingdom, experiences that have strengthened her interest in cross-cultural diplomacy and global affairs. Beyond academia, Emily led European business development at a technology startup, spearheading market expansion and managing a client portfolio spanning 15 countries. She also worked at a political consulting firm, producing analytical briefs on pending legislation to support senior leadership in policy and financial strategy.

She is committed to applying her regional knowledge and policy training after MSFS to address emerging challenges in global security and international diplomacy.
