Cecilia Rike

M.S. in Foreign Service Student

Cecilia Rike is a candidate in the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program at Georgetown University, pursuing the Global Politics and Security concentration and an Asian Studies certificate. She currently serves on the board of the School of Foreign Service’s Committee on China. She was also selected for the U.S.-China Student Dialogue, Georgetown’s scholarly exchange program with Chinese peer universities.

Cecilia recently graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese. Her senior thesis examined national identity and nation-building in the diaspora of Republican-era China, winning the departmental award for outstanding scholarship for her archival research. Cecilia studied abroad at Tunghai University as part of Fulbright Taiwan’s Consortium for Study Abroad in Taiwan. She also worked for the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia, sharing her passion for East Asian language and culture with K-12 educators.

Cecilia worked in the Economic and Political Section at the U.S. Consulate in Shanghai, China and the Office of Global Food Security (E/GFS) as part of the U.S. Foreign Service Internship Program (USFSIP). She hopes to synthesize her expertise on China with her love for public diplomacy as she pursues a career in international affairs.
