M.S. in Foreign Service Student

Caroline Smutny is pursuing a Master of Science in Foreign Service with a concentration in Geoeconomics, Business, & Finance. Before coming to Georgetown, she earned her B.A. at McGill University and worked at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) with the Project on Prosperity and Development and the Critical Minerals Security Program, where she contributed to projects related to U.S.-China strategic competition, U.S. foreign economic strategy, development finance, investment in emerging markets, critical minerals, and global supply-chain resilience. Her academic and professional interests focus on how governments and firms navigate rising geoeconomic fragmentation, and she aims to pursue a career at the intersection of international trade, regulatory and geopolitical risk, and global business strategy.
