M.S. in Foreign Service Student

Brendan L. Sanders is a candidate in the Master of Science in Foreign Service program at Georgetown University, concentrating in Global Politics and Security and pursuing a certificate in Arab Studies. His areas of interest include Middle East security, forced migration and displacement, diplomacy, and Arab literature.

As an officer in the Marine Corps, Brendan led Marines during deployments to the Middle East and Indo-Pacific operating theaters. While serving overseas, he trained alongside multiple partner nation militaries and deployed with both U.S. Special Operations Forces and Marine infantry elements. Through these experiences, he gained a broad perspective on irregular and conventional warfare, security cooperation, and joint operations. Prior to his military service, Brendan worked for the NGO CARE International at the Azraq Refugee Camp in Jordan, supporting humanitarian assistance efforts during the Syrian Refugee Crisis.

Brendan is an alumnus of the College of the Holy Cross, where he majored in International Studies and studied abroad in Jordan, Egypt, and Morocco. During his undergraduate years, he also performed as a stage actor in theatre productions. He speaks Arabic and Spanish and is a native of Boston, Massachusetts.
