Alexandre Colas des Francs
M.S. in Foreign Service Student
Alexandre Colas des Francs is a graduate student in the Master of Science in Foreign Service program at Georgetown University. He concentrates on Global Governance and Security, and pursues the African Studies Graduate Certificate. Alex’s current research interests include transatlantic security cooperation and Great-Power competition in West Africa.
He recently completed two years of service in Benin as a Peace Corps Volunteer, during which he taught English at a secondary school. Before going to Benin, Alex conducted research on U.S. grand strategy and European diplomatic history at the Hudson Institute. He also served as Head of Events and Debates for the youth branch of the French presidential party in North America.
Born and raised in France, Alex speaks French and English and has additional proficiency in Spanish and a Beninese language. He holds a B.A. in International Relations from American University. After completing his degree, he intends to pursue a career in the U.S. Foreign Service as a Political Officer.
