Alexander Dragone
M.S. in Foreign Service Student
Alexander Dragone was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on May 16, 1994 to Dr. Sergio and Mrs. Judith Dragone, the second of their four children. He was raised in the town of Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. In 2012, he matriculated at Johns Hopkins University, from which he would graduate in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Writing Seminars. He found work with Bloomberg Television in New York, where he worked as a producer from 2016 to 2020.
Looking for adventure, challenge, and compelling work, he applied for the Marine Corps’ Officer Candidates Course through the Reserve Officer Commissioning Program. He joined the Winter 2020 class, and accepted a commission as a second lieutenant in March 2020. He became a logistics officer in December 2021.
Dragone elected to go on a Professional Development Tour (PDT), a twelve-month set of active-duty orders. He received orders for a Hawaii-based aircraft group, and deployed with one of the group’s squadrons to Darwin, Australia for eight months.
After completing his PDT in January 2023, Dragone transitioned to the drilling reserves. Unsure of what to do in this new, scary civilian world, a friend urged him to explore MBA programs. Between submitting applications and beginning school at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business in July 2024, he lived in Philadelphia and worked as a bartender.
In addition to pursuing the MSFS and MBA, Dragone is pursuing the Graduate Certificate in African Studies. He is a captain in the Marine Corps Reserve. He enjoys cooking, reading, writing, tabletop games, trains, and exploring cities by public transportation.
