At the School of Foreign Service, we provide a rigorous education grounded in both theory and practice while instilling the Jesuit value of service.

In your application materials, we look at your academic accomplishments as well as your experiences outside of the classroom, your demonstrated commitment to the broader community and personal qualities that prepare you to join the Georgetown University tradition of cura personalis–care for the whole person.

Early action: November 1, 2025
Final deadline: January 10, 2026
Graduate program deadlines
Spring 2026*
SSP final deadline: October 1, 2025
MAERES and LAS final deadline: November 1, 2025
Fall 2026
Fee waiver deadline: December 1, 2025
Priority deadline: January 15, 2026 – scholarship consideration
Final deadline: April 1, 2026**
*The M.A. in Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies (MAERES), M.A. in Latin American Studies (LAS) and the graduate Security Studies Program (SSP) are the only SFS graduate programs with a spring term intake.
** The final deadline for the fall semester intake of the graduate Security Studies Program is January 15, 2026.
Undergraduate applicants
Apply to undergraduate programs at the School of Foreign Service as a new first-year student, a transfer student from another institution or an internal transfer from another school at Georgetown.
Graduate applicants
Apply to a master’s program to specialize in your field. Each program has specific requirements you must complete to be considered for admission.

Step 1: Select a program
Review the master’s programs and graduate certificates we offer to see which can help you accomplish your professional goals. You can reach out to the program to learn more.
Step 2: Review admissions requirements and prerequisites
Each of our programs has different requirements for being eligible for admission. Please review and reach out to the program for more information.
Step 3: Gather application materials
Prepare to apply for admission by gathering the required materials. You can:
- Reach out to potential recommendation writers
- Draft your statement of purpose
- Request transcripts from all institutions attended
- Update your resume
- Coordinate or request English language testing scores (for international students)
- Gather any necessary documents relevant to your program of interest’s application requirements
Step 4: Create a portal account and begin the application
Once you have reviewed your program of interest’s admissions requirements, create an account on the Georgetown Application Portal. You will apply and submit materials through the portal, and will also use it to check on your application status.
Step 5: Fill out the application and submit
Complete all sections on the online application and include all required materials. Once your application is complete, you can submit it to the program to review for admission.
