Tai Markman, Chair

Tai is a senior in the College majoring in political economy and computer science with a minor in statistics. Originally from Orlando, Florida, she is interested in economic analysis related to criminal justice, labor and inequality. Outside the Carroll Round, Tai is involved in dance, mental health advocacy and criminal justice advocacy groups. In her free time, she loves to watch Survivor, make really bad puns and eat spinach and artichoke dip.

Anvitha Reddy, Logistics Co-Chair

Anvitha is a junior in the School of Foreign Service studying international economics and minoring in philosophy. She is interested in emerging markets, international finance and development economics. On campus, she is also a part of the Hilltop Microfinance Initiative and Blue & Gray Tour Guide Society. She’s from Dallas, Texas, and enjoys 70s rock, Sudoku and spin classes.

Ophelia Bentley, Logistics Co-Chair

Ophelia is a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service majoring in international political economy and minoring in philosophy. She is interested in energy markets and the economics of the green transition. At Georgetown, she researches EU industrial policy as a Mortara Undergraduate Research Fellow and works with Hatch Tutors. From New Hampshire, she loves skiing, reading and exploring DC in her free time.

Axel is a senior in the College majoring in economics with a minor in mathematics. He is interested in industrial organization and antitrust economics. At Georgetown, Axel is the head teaching assistant for Principles of Microeconomics and a proud GSPer. After graduating, he will join Compass Lexecon as an Analyst.

Danny is a junior in SFS majoring in international history and minoring in economics. He is originally from Dalian, China, and is interested in economic history. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, guitar and reading books.

Tomas Torterola is a student in the College of Arts & Sciences studying economics, mathematics and computer science. Tomas’ intellectual interests represent his belief in the importance of a balanced perspective that blends qualitative reasoning with quantitative analysis. Outside the classroom, Tomas loves grilling, watching soccer, playing pool and hiking with friends. Originally from Argentina, Tomas is natively fluent in both English and Spanish.

Ben is a sophomore in the School of Foreign Service majoring in international politics and minoring in economics. Originally from North Carolina, he is interested in the economics of trade policy. On the side, Ben competes with Georgetown’s Ballroom Dance team and explores DC in pursuit of its best coffee.

Marco Uustal, Editor-in-Chief of the Carroll Round Proceedings

Marco leads the editorial team of the Proceedings journal, overseeing the publication of research presented at the 23rd Carroll Round Conference. He is a senior in the School of Foreign Service pursuing a degree in international economics with a concentration in international development. Marco has published research in the Columbia Undergraduate Law Review on disability discrimination in Supreme Court jurisprudence, worked on the legal team of an Estonian venture capital firm, and served as a teaching assistant for Georgetown’s department of economics. In his free time, he is an avid freediver, soccer player and reader.

Jiyon Chatterjee, Managing Editor of the Carroll Round Proceedings

Jiyon is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences majoring in economics and minoring in mathematics. Originally from New York City, he is interested in the effect of public and private debt on equitable economic growth. Outside of classes, he is the Columns Editor of Georgetown Politics’ publication On The Record, a teaching assistant for Principles of Microeconomics and enjoys singing Beatles songs with his guitar.

Nikolai is a freshman in the School of Foreign Service majoring in international economics. He is Austrian-American and grew up in Moscow, London and Vienna. He is interested in financial economics. Outside of the classroom, Nikolai is involved in Club Ski, Club Golf and the GU European Club.

Originally from Houston, Texas, with a passion for public economics and public policy, Courtney is currently studying abroad at the London School of Economics. Outside of serving as the Communications Chair, Courtney enjoys swimming, traveling and NYT Connections.

Pujan is a junior in the School of Foreign Service majoring in international economics with a certificate in international business diplomacy. He is originally from Princeton, New Jersey, and is interested in behavioral economics and financial economics. In his free time, Pujan enjoys playing tennis, going on runs and watching a myriad of sports, from Formula One to football.

On campus, she is a consultant at Georgetown Eco Consultants and a member of the Anthem literary magazine. She is originally from Massachusetts and enjoys reading, creative writing and language learning.

Isabel is a sophomore in the College majoring in economics and math. She is originally from New Jersey, and is interested in health economics and behavioral economics. At Georgetown, she is a research assistant in the School of Nursing, studying health disparities in Latin communities. In her free time, Isabel enjoys hiking, basketball and crossword puzzles.

On campus, he’s involved with the Georgetown University Student Association (GUSA), Georgetown Global Consulting (GGC) and the Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET). In his free time, he enjoys side questing, traveling and playing badminton.
