US–China academic exchanges are rarer amid geopolitical tensions, which is why the Georgetown U.S.–China Student Dialogue mattered. Visiting Beijing and Shanghai and meeting students and stakeholders reminded me that future practitioners need firsthand engagement to understand different systems and cultures.
