Lea Iskandar
2021 Paul F. Pelosi Scholar
My name is Lea Iskandar. I am a second-year undergraduate student in the School of Foreign Service, studying Science, Technology, and International Affairs with a concentration in Science, Technology, and Security and a minor in Physics. I am originally from Fairfax, Virginia, and I have also lived in Lebanon, where the majority of my family resides. I enjoy immersing myself in my Lebanese heritage by serving as Outreach Director for Georgetown's Arab Society. I also explore my other two passions–Spanish and Astrophysics–by writing for the Latin America & Caribbean section of The Caravelnewspaper and its Compass Futures newsletter. I am passionate about the expansion of underprivileged groups' entrance into the science sphere of international security. I hope to explore methods of amplifying minority voices in science-based policies.
